Oh I bounced around reading Malcolm Gladwell, Michael Lewis which brought me to Steven Pinker. Richard Thaler, Danny Kahneman to Rosling. I finished Enlightenment Now and began Factfulness recently.

Is it only me concerned about that boy who doesn't want to marry that girl next door either?
@clairewinograd9478

In place like India the "boy" next door is usually a 28-30 year old man who is ready to pay a dowry to marry that 14 year old neighbor. Not really a boy. The age difference between men and women is still usually over 10 years in most of these arranged marriages.

@12:04 "The fact the the number of children in the world has stopped increasing, is the biggest event in the history of mankind, that was ever completely missed by media and education..." ~Hans Rosling 2015. I doubt it was completely missed, Hans. As I have learned, you have to follow the money... and that statistic does not help any "aid organizations" get more money... I really think its just that simple...

What is the best book on the topic of inequality? Rosling is trying to back his optimism with reasoning the whole optimists vs pessimists and emotion vs reasoning debates are very interesting to me.

He never said there's no inequality - he said it's not nearly as bad as you think and he presented evidence for that.

You missed his point completely. The point is that we are still focusing on the problems of 30 years ago, not the new problems of today to make advancements. He says plainly that just because girls are attending primary school at a rate of 90% does not mean those schools are great schools or that the girls are able to continue to secondary school. We need to work with the data for what is NOW, not the preconceived notions that we have because we learned about this 30 years ago. He is right.
