It's a shame that in such bad times, we need more patriotic heroes to remind us why we fight... Not out of pride or anger but for the people around us. I'm sad to know that heroes like Captain America are being treated so badly because of politics.

If I got the job on this, I'd write a lot of flashback issues of him in WW2 fighting Hydra and Nazis, fifth columnists, etc. The modern day stuff could be related to these old stories, organizations based on the past, grandkids of old enemies etc. He needs a better rogue's gallery, in my opinion.

I no longer buy any Marvel comics and only a couple DC titles. Only Indy comics. Wokeness and an anti-USA vibe has completely turned me off to their modern output. And on a local level, I do not buy any comics at my local comic book shop as it has gone completely woke as well. From the outside you can barely tell it’s a comic book store. Every lefty cause and crusade has their posters plastered all over the front window. I refuse to spend one cent there and buy my titles from an online store.

i was NEVER so disappointed in a run than this one. for the life of me i dont understand it either. JMS did the "rivers of truth' speech from cap to spidey during civil war that was SO fkn good they put it in the cap movie (though coming from sharon at peggys funeral then) . he WROTE the story for THOR 1 which in my opinion was the HARDEST sell of a character in the phase one era. in his own line of books he did rising stars and midnight nation- two absolute blinders, and is early spidey run was brilliant, so the bloke KNOWS super heroic fiction. i was buzzing BIG time for a return to form of captain america with a focus on his morality and action. and we got "captain america : landlord" instead. honestly by issue 3 i was gone. if someone of JMSs ability CANT do a decent cap book then i think he's finished at marvel as a book as none of the other idiots actually BELIVE in his ideals- which is how we got hydra cap in the first place . in a way it reminds me of transformers at IDW. they just CANT do the book that needs to be done. its sad but there ya go.

Out here in LA during the '90s, the radio show Hour 25 after Mike Hodel died, was taken over by Harlan Ellison. But he couldn't stay there forever, so JMS took over from Harlan. He did a very good job, but apparently not such a good job on the Cap book. (BTW, history buffs can take note that Mike's dad alledgedly turned out to be the Black Dahlia killer.) So bad mojo all the way around that scene.

In defense of JMS' run on Spider-Man, he didn't want to do the One More Day reboot. Editorial forced it on him and it got to a point where he felt that they were so controlling, he wanted his name removed from the book credits. JMS did do one shit story in 'Sins Past', though later said he planned to retcon it but couldn't once he'd left the book. Marvel has in many ways been pricing so high (and other lemmings following suit) as well as glutting the market with shit that it keeps casual readers from grabbing up these extra books like Cap. I expect Marvel will concoct some other "shocking" direction for Cap and then relaunch with a more compliant writer.

Ta-Nehisi Coates was hired because he’s an activist. He had no background in comics. And you’re right he does hate America. But those were all the reasons they hired him. Ethan Van Sciver Stated in a KZbin video that somebody came to him while he still worked for mainstream comics bragging that they got a communist to write for G.I. Joe. These people don’t deserve your money. Let the current companies in the comic book industry fail. Because that’s the only way this gets better. You have to have somebody who says we’re not focus on activism we’re selling a product. You can never run a successful business when all your employees are Marxist.

Way back in 2005, (Right?!?!) I was happy reading my 2 favorite Super heroes, Spider-man and Captain America!!! Civil War goes down and Cap is killed and Peter and Mary Jane are erased...WTF!!! And ever since then, I have been waiting for a New Dawn to emerge for Spidey and Cap. Nick Spencer had a fairly decent run with Spidey, after screwing us with Hydra Cap...But, No one has been able to step up and flourish with Captain America! Why??? I was cautiously optimistic when JMS was picked for Cap but, my opinion about JMS was fairly low to begin with..."One More Day" always hurts when I think about it!!! So, It looks like another disappointing attempt at Real Good decent Comics. What can you do if the folks at Marvel are just so inept and not interested in telling good stories, not looking forward to anything they do at Marvel...Done!!! Marvel has been running classic heroes through the mud for so long, I'm not surprised that the Modern mindset hate heroism and paragon-like personalities and only interested in the cynical non traditional heroics of these heroes. Hell, Peter Parker can't grow up, and Marvel is open about hating all there heroes unless they have the modern mindset. Women can't be attractive unless their evil, men can't be masculine and has to have some form of feminine undertone, if your not Kamala Kahn or Miles Morales, you're not importent. That seems to be the Marvel montra.

I'm not going to lie I know how much people hate to Nick Spencer run but actually enjoyed it because I read of interest standoff that I already knew that when they brought young Captain America back I said oh this Captain America isn't the Steve Rogers that we all know and love it is another Steve Rogers that was changed by the cosmic cube so when I read the Nick Spencer Captain America run which is actually pretty thrilling I was like oh okay this is pretty cool it shows that Nick Spencer do have potential if he was writing classic Captain America. But you're right The problem with Marvel is they hate Steve Rogers and they've been trying to replace him with Sam Wilson because they want a black Captain America they don't want Captain America to be white again even though it's just like the foundation of America was through white men not black people but you know diversity and inclusion because they keep going back and forth between Sam not being Captain America now he's Captain America now he's the leader of avengers and they're also giving him another solo run and remember last time when they did Sam Wilson Captain America run with Steve Rogers Captain America they made sure that Sam Wilson's Captain America was the main Captain America title while Steve Rogers Captain America story wasn't all that important it's just weird honestly but like you said we do need some people who care about America who wants Captain America to be truth justice in American way like Superman is just kind of sad to see cuz we know this is what Marvel wants cuz like I said before with the Nick Spencer run if they didn't have to do that whole setup for secret empire and you know making an evil Captain America I think that could have been a great Captain America run like for a normal Captain America You know what I'm saying it just kind of sucks to see this destruction of all of these legacy characters you know everybody's doing terrible in Marvel comic books it is just like damn what character is doing good you know

The other was a 5 issue mini Dr. Doom series in the 616, but it is going to be written by Ryan North, who basically kills all my enthusiasm for this whole One World Under Doom era we're entering in Marvel. The first volume of JMSs cap run was a breath of fresh air out of what we've been getting. And honestly, I am glad he was the one to write the story of what Steves life was like between his mother dying, to the time he enlisted. Cause to be honest, any modern day writer would use that chance to say something problematic about Steve's life like have him or his mother use the N word. His second volume, they flat out turned that into an X Men book. To introduce leftover mutants that none of the X Men writers wanted to use so they dumped them on caps book The upcoming 3rd volume, I'm just hoping it sticks the landing.

I generally still don't know how Marvel is still printing comics at this point. Same with DC. It's hard for me to believe it's soley because of quote on quote ''Disney money'' cause let's be honest here, Disney could give two f**ks less about the comic books. They only care about the characters and using them for movies and shit. And the movies, which could have great for getting new generations into the comics, has been wasted by the fact that Marvel did nothing to bank on this fact. When Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man were all killing it at the box-office, in the comics, Tony was killed off and replaced with some insufferable black girl, Thor was disgraced and replaced with a female version, and Steve Rogers was revealed to be a secret Hydra Agent.

Almost all of these golden age superheroes need to be rebooted in more realistic concepts fitting the 21st century. 1st, Cap after all this time would be into politics or works very close with the government. As much as they’d hate it he would also be a conservative or independent at best, but no way would Steve Rogers be cool with killing babies and illegal immigration. The Fantastic Four should hardly ever be on earth, they should be space adventurers. The X-Men shouldn’t be hated or feared, mutants should be the most famous people on the planet. Nightcrawler would have the biggest podcast on earth.

I was excited for JMS on Cap. Plus just about anyone is an upgrade on Lanzig & Kelly, one of the worst writing teams in the history of comics. And it started well with that very solid initial arc. However everything else since has been a really bad fit for the character and really quite poor aside from that. JMS seemed to have story he wanted to write and decided he was shoehorning it in here regardless of whether it works or not. Despite liking him as a writer I’m glad it’s cancelled. I just hope marvel make a good decision for the next one.

Stracynzki is one of my favorite writers, too bad I don't read Marvel because Stracynzki on a Cap book definitely would have sold me in the past..I love Babylon 5, I love Thor actually being treated like a fucking God of War and practically killing Tony for what he and Reed did during Civil War ( even though I hate that story and it marks one of my biggest ted flag beginning of the end of Marvel comics stories that never should have been written ) cloning him and using the clone against other heroes then making him walk his ass out of the woods and slink home like the bitch he is. Michael always does good to great characterization in my humble opinion and after all the great military characters from Sinclair to Bestor being fantastically written with their own complex thoughts, motivations, ideals, interpretations of ideals, and philosophical discussions on the nature of war, freedom, duty, truth, peace, etc from a whole host of perspectives I trust even if Stracynzki isn't a "super patriot" he would understand and write Cap from Caps worldview, not his own. That really is a loss for you guys still reading Marvel. Sounds like the book had potential but they probably can't afford to pay Michael even if the book does good for a modern Marvel book. Real talent costs money and their continued hiring of garbage talent destroying characters and tanking book after book has reduced the potential audience so much that even Stracynzki can't pull in enough of an audience to warrant his paycheck. Dark times at Marvel. It's ok though, I'm sure they'll create themselves another dumpster fire soon to get some light in there.😁🤣😂🤣 Anyways, have a good day Wes. Peace ✌️🕊️

Idk, it started of decent but that whole demon thing was just dull. Jms May have had some good runs but this cap run was mighty dull and lackluster.

I'm sick of the character assault of Steve Rogers. You have all these untalented and hateful writers trying to destroy the concept of what Cap embodies. Marvel deserves all the failure they get.

I liked B5 back in the 90's, but with a more discerning eye I now see it for the progressive propaganda that it was.

Im tired with all this demon stuff that seems to have taken over the big two, let heroes be heroes good vs bad time to take a few steps back. Time to restructure comics. And stop hating on Captain America.

JMS is "okay" - he's def. not someone i would buy on name recognition alone. Ed Brubaker on the other hand works better for me.

I admit that I am one of the few comic fans who believes that a lot of heroes should have ended for good on a high note, but not like this. Not with cancellations. I think the Avengers Endgame did it right. Letting the man be with the woman he loved, grow old and live a happy life, and choose a successor. THAT is how mantles should be passed down and how we honour legacy heroes.

Marvel's watering most cool mantles for token points. Ten years from now and most people have abandoned "Captain America", and re-tread old 1900's issues. Same with Spider-Man. Capt. Marvel. Etc.

The Cap comic sounds atrocious. Guess they are "writing what they know", which sounds like redecorating and girl-talk. I bet they want to retcon him so that his powers come from Magic.
