9:10 Important thing to know about using music in KZbin Shorts. If monetized, the revenue splits between us, the artist, and KZbin. That's why people get understandably upset about low earnings in their shorts when said shorts get a lot of attention. It's your choice, but I'd use covers of different songs for higher earnings.

If KZbin’s #1 priority is shorts, then I guess I should abandon KZbin. And I just got monetized yesterday. 😕 This is depressing news… Because “shorts” is empty calories for people who are addicted to mindless scrolling.

I don't think it is depressing. True, we can say that a lot of people who watch Shorts have a shorter attention span (no pun intended), but I don't think they are totally brain dead because even people who watch just long form videos can be a bit brain dead, too. People who watch Shorts are usually who are on the go a lot of the time. To them, watching TikTok or Instagram Reels is just more convenient to them. So personally, I think YT Shorts is vital for growth on KZbin because even KZbin said that creators who make both long form and short form contents will have a higher chance of success on KZbin.

But I’ve also seen channels I subscribe to say how well they’re doing with shorts. So really it’s about how you use them strategically like you mentioned.

the problem i have with shorts, is that i start uploading shorts and all my long form starts crashing, i stop and my long form is amazing - with that said, it is frustrating because people likes shorts. Any tips on that?

That can really depend on your audience. If you've been making a KZbin video for a very long time (like more than a year), then maybe your returning viewers don't like Shorts. Just because Short form content is popular and rising in popularity, that doesn't necessarily mean everyone will be successful in Shorts. There are some creators who just make only Shorts because they know their audience like that while the opposite is true for content creators who make mostly long form videos.

There's a way to upload a fully customized actual thumbnail for your shorts just like with long-form content. I tried it on one of my shorts and it worked. FYI

You said that we should add captions embedded in the video. But now since KZbin already offers subtitles, dont you think it is going to be disturbing to have 2 sets of titles playing? In most social media platforms now captions are available. Some options like the word to word idea I understand, but every video does it make sense? And changing the visual every 7 seconds in a long form video is going to be a pain. Any solutions for that?

QUESTION: how should a "how to" style channel that needs long form video to provide more detailed information to its audience, successfully use Shorts to draw in a larger audience that is truly interested in their long form content and not just Shorts Scrollers?

I think since it is crucial to have a "Hook" in all long form videos, one of the best ways to utilize shorts would be to turn your "Hook" section into the short, (where you tell the viewer the result or transformation they will experience after watching your video) and then use the Related Video section to link to the long form video and drive traffic/views there, where they will get more info. Hopefully this makes sense?

Since your niche is woodworking and CNC, for shorts, a great way to optimize your shorts would be to have a before and after photo, to help the viewer visualize the transformation. A Hack to get a before and after photo that you can even turn into your short thumbnail, would be to create the short in "Canva" design program that has a free version, and will allow you to insert a photo to the beginning of your video and then when actually posting the short, upload through KZbin mobile app on phone, which will allow you to choose a frame from the short as your thumbnail. Choose the frame that has the before and after photo to give the viewer instant results and then when you link to your log form, they can watch and learn the process. Hope this helps!

@@twoelmbuilds sure thing, you're welcome! That's great you have Canva Pro, I love having the Pro version as well, so user friendly too! It would absolutely make sense to use some of your long form content to create shorts to feed back into those long form videos. Another trick you can use is editing your old video title to add 2023 as it will help optimize search results. You might even want to put some of your focus on your Holiday products/ideas content right now, to capitalize on the timing, adding the 2023 to the title will help with this especially.

Aloha Sean interestingly enough recently I was sent a notice from FB saying they removed my post due to spamming. I added a story to my IG account actually 2 of them and I realized the box was checked share to FB I submitted a response why I didn't agree and after 2 x of disagreement and resubmitted my reason which I could only choose one of their reasons, they still came back to me and removed my post. 😫
