An auto glass cleaner is recommended over windex as they're foam and not liquid. If you do choose windex avoid ammonia based options as they can reduce window seal life, streak, and promote fog build up on the windshield.

I purchased this dash cam model for my neighbor who has a 2024 HONDA CRV HYBRID, and I used the OBD cable for connection. However, this would turn out to be a nightmare as the dashcam would intermittently shut off and power on----which led to the connection and disconnection to the app. So I went to the hardwired option and so far, no more issues. My neighbor also had an older iPHONE 8 which was also not allowing her to stay connected to the dash cam in the app. After getting a newer iPHONE model, her phone is now able to stay connected! So if you have a HYBRID vehicle, I suggest you go the hardwired route instead of the OBD cable route.

Wow, thanks for sharing your story there, and I'm sorry to hear you had those difficulties initially, though I'm glad it worked out in the end. Sometimes there can be some issues with older phones, though I wholeheartedly believe our team should be able to help resolve them, so consider giving us a call next time an issue pops up. As for the OBD cable, your experience is very valid, and we've made a list of vehicle models we've found to have issues with the OBD cable on the product page for the U3000: www.blackboxmycar.ca/products/thinkware-u3000-4k-uhd-dual-channel-dash-cam

Thanks for this video! I like the series showing specifics for lots of different cars. With EV's, have you had any luck installing a Powercell 8 and having it recharge while the EV is plugged into a charger and also keeping the dashcam in parking recording mode? I'm not sure if it's possible, especially considering the higher voltage levels used by the charger and main battery, but I'd love to achieve this if possible. Same with powering the dashcam from the EV's huge main battery instead of the 12v starter battery like a gas car if not opting for a PC8.

Glad you like it Vortex! We have some more unique one's upcoming too :). With EVs, we have yet to plug in a battery pack to the main battery, as you are no doubt aware of the significantly higher-voltage systems that work with these main batteries, making it more difficult and dangerous. It's definitely an interesting idea, and I'll badger our specialist installer about it. I think BlackVue would definitely be the way to go for a battery system that is always being fed power, due to going into parking mode based off of motion.

If I had a new Mustang, I would have waited to maybe April 2024 when the F200 replacement is released (Q200). As seen at SEMA 2023 Thinkware's booth (about 3-months ago). Q200 has WIFI & BT, front camera is 2k, rear camera has HDR , SD card up to 256 GB, same smart parking mode as in Q1000 & U3000. I'll probably get a Q200 front & rear dash cam bundle.

The Q200 is definitely quite exciting! We'll share info as soon as we have it, so stay tuned.

1.) How long does Parking Mode last when hardwired in EV’s & Hybrids that use a small 12 Volt Accessory battery? 2.) If the dash cam drains the 12 Volt Accessory Battery, will this cause any issues, if so is there a better way to protect the 12 Volt Accessory Battery? -Charles

Depends on the vehicle. some have a very small 12v battery, some have a standard size, and others use a converter and draw directly from the drive battery.
@blackboxmycar11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the questions Charles! 1) On a smaller, 12 Volt Accessory Battery, parking mode should last 4-6 hours. This of course will depend on the health of your vehicle battery, and the energy efficiency of your dash cam, Thinkware cameras like this one are rather energy efficient. 2) Rest assured that these cameras have voltage cut-off, so they will not fully drain your car battery; power to the camera will be cut off well before that, if set up properly. With that being said, there is natural wear and tear to the car battery from this power draw, and it will often result in a short period of parking mode. I recommend considering a battery pack like our PowerCell 8, which would have you protected for 25+ hours parked with this Thinkware camera, while avoiding all wear-and-tear to your car battery!

You gonna review the nextbase q1?
@blackboxmycar11 ай бұрын
We've been keeping an eye on the Nextbase IQ! We have a comparison to BlackVue's Cloud features here: www.blackboxmycar.ca/pages/cloud-clash-nextbase-iq-cloud-vs-blackvue-cloud In our opinion, the Nextbase is a very expensive unit that still needs refinement in firmware updates to add the features advertised.

Why would anybody book a tesla for a dash cam when it already has nine on board cameras that cover every angle?
@CaptainCJ9711 ай бұрын
Because tesla's lack a lot of important features & if the car is damage too much you can't get the video out

Yes, we love how Tesla vehicles come integrated with vehicles, but their built-in cameras fall short in many respects. Check out our article on the subject here: www.blackboxmycar.com/blogs/news/why-do-we-love-tesla
