You might be surprised. I recently helped a friend simplify an equation to calculate the air pressure on any given boiling of water, and that used algebra and logarithms. There's some math in meteorology, too.

Or you use formula a(x - x1)(x - x2) where x1 and x2 are solutions of kvadratic and a is koeficient ax^2; 2x^2 + 5x - 12 = 0 x1 = - 3/2, x2 = - 4 ==> 2(x + 3/2)(x + 4) = (2x + 3)(x + 4)
