I have been taking Ramipril 1.25mg for a month now. My Dr put me on it as my BP was 147/87, I'm a 49yo female, overweight and have been seeing my Dr monthly for weight management for 3 months. I also have iron deficiency anaemia (IDE), my iron level was 3, I've been on Ferrous Grad C tablets for 3 months and am due for a blood test to see if my levels have improved. My blood pressure was 122/82 at my most recent checkup, I have lost 20kg in the last 3 months and need to lose a lot more. Ramipril makes me feel like I'm on a boat ( I was like this when diagnosed with IDE + severe fatigue), and sometimes I can't judge the distance to lift or lower my feet when using stairs, I feel nauseous just about every day and the dry cough is the worst side effect. My Dr wants me to stay on Ramipril for 1 more month until my weight comes down a little more but I can't wait to stop taking it.

How are you now?

Hi Doc, my husband is 35 years old, last year he suffered kidney atrophy (left kidney). Just at the start if this year he started to have hypertension (mean 146/86). His kidney function is perfect so far. Doctor has now prescribed him remipril (5m). I am worried about the side effects on kidney (as we only have one).

I’ve taken Doxozosin without any side effects whatsoever, I’ve now been put on this one so I hope I can say the same about it!😊

My body didn't like Ramipril at all. Constant belly aches, cramps, and diarrhea, in addition, made me feel weird and didn't lower my BP. The Dr tatrated it to 10mg, and it made me feel worse. I feel so much better now that I have stepped in. And my BP actually went down.

Thank you for this great video. I recently developed a dry cough from the larynx. I have been prescribed an alternative to Ramipril. It has been 2 weeks since and the cough is getting worse. Though I understand can take a while to settle down!

Great video doctor. What is the issue with a swollen lip whilst using this medication please ?
@ThinkYourHealth2 жыл бұрын
Swollen lip in the setting of angioedema. Angioedema is swelling underneath the skin. It's usually a reaction to a trigger, such as a medicine or something you're allergic to. It is not normally serious, but it can be a recurring problem for some people and can very occasionally be life-threatening if it affects breathing.

Hello Doctor. I have been taking Ramipril for 1 week to lower my blood pressure but am feeling various side effects i.e. mild headache, depression, sore stomach and it has only lowered my blood pressure very slightly. I'm tempted to stop using it as it's making me feel quite lousy. Does it take a while to get used to the medication / do the side effects reduce over time? Thanks in advance!

Hello Doc. Is it safe for a heart failure patient (got a stent last year) with COPD who is on bisprolol 2.5 mg OD, Ecospirin AV 75/20 & Ezedoc 10 to take Diclofenac 50 mg for knee injury pain? Is there any clinically significant interaction between Diclofenac & these drugs which can adversely affect patient?
@ThinkYourHealth2 жыл бұрын
Diclofenac is an NSAID.Generally NSAIDS are in heart failure patients are not recommended as they can contribute to vasoconstriction, The use of most nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is associated with an increased risk of adverse cardiovascular events. To minimize this risk, NSAIDs should be prescribed at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration possible for the given indication.Have a discussion with your primary care doctor as they are more atune with your medical history as well as medications.
