Pro tip on filters, if you want them to last longer take them off the mask after every use and use a vacuum cleaner to suck out everything from front of the filter. Also clean the whole mask, inside and outside with a toothbrush and warm water and soap.

I think the respirator is best used in an urban environment working in buildings and such. With shooting, explosions, etc lots of plaster dust gets in the air and can be a huge hazard

I have this hardware. Frankly for prepping/civilian preparedness the Mira TAPR respirator is more useful as the filters are 40mm nato. The mask is also about half the price. The Mira and Ops Core have very similar construction aside from filter types. However I think the TAPR has another pro over the SOTR which is that the filter sits to the side so you can cheek weld. This SOTR filter still sticks out obnoxiously like you're some plague Dr.
@ThinLineDefenseCo2 жыл бұрын
ehhh I see what you're saying but then you can't swap shoulders with the MIRA? honestly I haven't tried them both but I know the m50 with the canisters on the side causes all sorts of disasters. I'll have to try the MIRA though, thanks for the input. -Walsh
@solidus19952 жыл бұрын
@@ThinLineDefenseCo I think you're referring to the Avon masks which are pretty dated. Those also take proprietary canisters that are not as common as NATO 40mm standard. Check out Mira products you'll find some interesting things. Pretty sure the TAPR is "ambidextrous"

I’ve got an MSA MCU mask. I like it, but a smaller option has advantages. That and the center filter mount are the two things I find most interested about this. For a lefty shooting suppressed, I would recommend looking at HuxWurx cans (formerly OSS). Also, Stag arms makes an upper and bolt designed to swap the ejection port to the left side of the rifle. Those might help you more than the mask.
@ThinLineDefenseCo2 жыл бұрын
yea the huxwurx is definitely on the list but I went with a standard keymo so... we'll see. And I really went away from lefty uppers. They have massive QC problems from the feed ramps to the bolts. That whole adventure was a "yea not doing that mistake again" lol -Walsh

I have an Avon FM12. Goes for a bit more but certainly not $300, for that price you’d better get the entire kit (storage pouch, cleaning kit, filters although probably out of shelf but it’s a collector’s item, special canteen) and so on. Also mine has twin ports and a blank plug, not even that old, perfect condition and very comfortable. This Opscore SOTR is a glorified 3M half mask that costs 20 bucks in fact.

@ThinLineDefenseCo2 жыл бұрын
The issue is the dual inlet on the 3m vs the single center on the SOTR. If you don't need to worry about shouldering a firearm, it wouldn't really be a big deal but otherwise the 3m would be a pretty big problem
@SweetStat2 жыл бұрын
Just put one of the soft pink particle filters on one or both sides, shouldering won't be a problem with those
@RonJeremy51411 ай бұрын
Okay so, by shifting the position of the filter to the center, that still justifies the fact it costs 280 more dollars? No way bruh, even for less than $100 there are plenty of Avon S10 or FM12 masks out there and those are NATO 40mm, can even work with a PAPR kit, very comfortable with very clear and durable lenses. It’s just better and is actually fielded successfully to various forces around the world. There is no way I’m buying a half mask that costs $300 but only good at resisting fresh paint 😂

IDK man, it might be that the biggest con comes when the man-bun-lumberjacks learn that they need to cut off their tacti-cool-guy, meticulously, manscaped beards in order to get a proper seal. "Welp, so much for quick donning, guess I gotta cut off my rat's nest first"....I refer to that as a con because chances are they will have already bought one and limited their already slim availability even further before they found out 🤷♂️😂😂

One thing I don’t believe you covered is how much the helmet chin strap interferes with the seal of the mask, seeing that the mask goes right over top of them. That concerns me.
@ThinLineDefenseCo Жыл бұрын
I should articulate it better but the chin strap slides backwards as is in the manual. The mask then fills that role but also allows the full seal on the mask. sorry if I wasn't clear but it because a nothing burger when I was using it -Walsh

Here's an issue that is troubling. To get a good seal between your face and mask guess what has to go... that's right, your beard. In fact to get the best seal you need to be clean shaven. Yet how many 'special ops' dudes do you see that are clean shaven? Very few. So if you normally have a beard or at lest some stubble, what kind of seal can you expect? BTW, the same thing applies to a CBRN full face mask.

Why pay $315 for a respirator when I can get double filtered ones from 3M at Lowes for $50-100? They too protect against the same crao ops core does or am I missing something? Cause I think opscore is simply overpriced due to their contracts with gov.

Government contract or not, it’s not even that good in practice. If an armed force is serious about getting masks, these days they tend to shift towards Avon FM53 models if they didn’t replace their older full face masks inventories.
