This is the childhood memory I've been searching for literally for decades. I remember my brother's ordering this on pay per view (pronounced paper view) and traumatizing my little ass 😂😂 my mom was so mad 😂

It is! But I think that’s why it wasn’t recieved well tbh. It’s hard to translate book material to cinema to make it not as corny. Things that read well, don’t always go down the same way on screen, and so they usually make a lot of changes. This movie is true to its source and I personally love that, but I can see why it flopped a little as well.

Genuinely one of the weirdest premises for a horror movie I’ve ever seen. It’s the type of story you can immediately tell was from King’s binge era. Honestly surprised SNL didn’t take the piss out of this until the 2000’s
