3 great lines in one scene. "Got lost in the time vortex- Tardis brought me home". "While there's life there's hope" and "here we go again" from the Brig. Classic who at its best and a sad end for one very memorable Doctor. Its really fitting that the 3rd Doctor began by falling out of the Tardis and ended by doing the same thing. Also note a complete change and maturing of his character from the beginning to the end starting off wanting to get away and escape the Earth only to call it home in the end. Sometime in the early 70's and my early teens, I saw my first Doctor Who episode on Public Television here in the States. Ms. Sladen and Tom Baker. Loved the show, adored Sarah. It is still quite surreal, her passing. You Brits were blessed with this lady, and though she probably never expected it, she blessed many in the States as well. And this is Doctor Who, legacy from generation to generation. Connecting now the young, old, and separated by great distance.
@U2QuoZepplin11 жыл бұрын
It seems like a lost art, the way that The Doctor's regenerations were different every time in the classic series' . So far Doctors nine ten and eleven have all regenerated in the same way. Where's the imagination in that? I particularly like this one. A little guy appears out of no where and says words to the effect of "do not grieve , Sarah-Jane" and all the rest. I thought he was going to deliver the lines Spock delivers at the end of Star Trek II. Jon Pertwee was one of the greats! for sure
@DoctorWhoKage4 жыл бұрын
Matt Smith's regeneration was a little different, to be fair.
@Domihork4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, when I first saw 9th Doctor's regeneration, I assumed it looked like that because there was still some Time Vortex energy left in him and he was expelling it from his body... You know, since they used exactly the same effect for Rose looking into the heart of the TARDIS and the Doctor regenerating... And I think I've read somewhere that that was also the idea behind it. But then they did it again for 10th Doctor and we kind of got stuck with it. My theory is that they wanted to do the fake-out regeneration in Stolen Earth, but couldn't make it look different than 9th's regen because then nobody would understand what it means and the cliffhanger would make no sense. So they used the same effect again. And then they had to use it ever since to remain constant.

@colinmcphan8 жыл бұрын
+Don McCullen That's just your opinion just like my opinion is that Tom deserves all the praise and recognition he has received for his brilliant portrayal of the Doctor. Also Tom's continued popularity in the role in America has nothing to do with his being shown first in America because he wasn't. PBS first ran the show in 70's with Pertwee but it didn't catch on. If you don' believe me check with PBS. Plus PBS showed several or more of the Classic Doctors thru out the 80's & early 90's. Both men are talented and I would never call Jon or Tom overrated. Plus saying someone is dumb enough to simply base who they like on who they saw first is not fair to the fans and not true of a lot of us. I saw New Who and the New series Doctor's first for the most part since I had only ever seen one or two episodes of the Classic series before last year. Tom will never be overrated, in my opinion, and neither will Jon. I appreciate what they both brought to the role even though Tom's my favorite. God bless.

well the brig worked with three versions of the doctor and had met all 7 of the classic doctors and if you count big finish 8 as well. NO other companion can say this! (and if you count cyberbrig 12!)

Me too!! lol I was only 6 when Baker took over and those mid to late 70's stories were the spookiest in Who history.......as well as having the best weekly chiffhangers.

@JazziChick The little man is a Time Lord and the Doctor's mentor, known on Earth as Kanpo Rimpoche or, in his current incarnation, Cho Je. The Doctor referred to him as The Hermit before in "The Time Monster"

He sacrificed his very being by going into this cave that was super eradiated by the Metebelis 3 crystals. He knew it would destroy him, but he did it anyway and managed to destroy the queen Eight Legs monster. He then went back in his TARDIS and spent all that time travelling before he finally made it back to Earth and died.

RIP, Elisabeth Sladen. Even now Sarah Jane Smith remains the definitive Doctor Who companion. The world has lost her far too soon.

If Mike Yates was still a Captain of UNIT when the Doctor returned to Earth after defeating the giant spiders by crippling his body with radiation from the Metebelis crystals,he would've been in shock to see him change with the aid of a fellow Time Lord.
