Just picked this album up for the hell of it ----this album controlled my life for the next 2 years . I lived the reality of each one of their songs. Did not think I was going to make it to 2000 alive, I still carry memories and awful scars from that time. Met a person that turned my life upside down. Best sex I ever had ---best album of the 90s for me--ended up with a 2 year nervous breakdown. This album actually brought that person into me life---took it to a party they were there and approached me about the GREAT MUSIC---life was never the same. THIS DRAMA IS A BORE AND I DON'T WANNA PLAY NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!

@@thischarminglovehound2376 I didn’t take it as a slam, I’m js they’re not a happy/poppy band at all. I explained why SCL is that way and NLYG is that way cuz Jenkins wanted to sell out and have a second SCL in the next album to hit the radio and spark more listeners. Those songs are outliers is my point and not an accurate reflection of their general sound or their music.

My VERY first concert without parents/adult supervision. Flash back to February 11, 1998 at the UMR multipurpose building in Rolla, MO. I remember my dad made me dress well covered. I altered my outfit as soon as I was in the building and out of his sight. It was cold and wet winter weather and I wore a checkered black and white skirt and black cardigan and matching Maryjane shoes. I was 15 years old and in love with this band! I crowd surfed for the first time. Stephen on stage saw my joy and reached out and touched my hand briefly. Somehow while crowd surfing and enjoying my first mosh pit I lost one of my shoes. I went home with the biggest smile and only one shoe. Core memories formed that night! I felt invincible and alive! Fast forward to age 41 and I just purchased tickets to see TEB in concert in 2024 here in Tampa FL and I’m bringing my son along this time. Nostalgic! This experience needs shared ❤

Losing a whole year Losing a whole year I remember you and me used to spend The whole goddamned day in bed Losing a whole year Hiding in your room we'd lay like dogs And the phone would ring like a joke that's left unsaid Losing a whole year Rich daddy left you with a parachute Your voice sounds like money and your face is cute But your daddy left you with no love You touch everything with a velvet glove and Now you want to try a life of sin You want to be down with the down and in Always copping my truths I kind of get the feeling like I'm being used And now I realize that you never heard One goddamned word I ever said Losing a whole year Losing a whole year I took your stuff and put it in the basement When I found out what the smile on your face meant I've seen you pop that check, big Craning your neck at my car wreck and It always seems the juice used to flow In the car, in the kitchen, you were good to go Now we're stuck with the tube A sink full of dishes and some aqua lube And I remember you and me used to spend The whole goddamned day in bed Hey why Losing a whole year And if it's not the defense then you're on the attack When you start talking I hear the Prozac Convinced you've found your place With the pierced queer teens in cyberspace When you were yourself it tasted sweet But it sours into a routine deceit Well this drama is a bore And I don't want to play no more Why, why Why, Why Losing a whole year I remember you and me used to spend The whole goddamned day in bed Losing a whole year Hey why Hey why

Just recently rediscovered these guys again after 25 yrs. Now that I'm older I really see just how good they were and how emotional these masterpiece songs make you feel... weren't the late 90s great? ... If I could only be 30 again...

My life basically turned into this album when I was 18. I related to the themes written about in each song. I love the album, but damn that was a time where it felt like I really was losing a whole year.

This entire album was one of the best I had growing up and I had a lot of good music. I wasn't really into them at first but needed to pick a 7th CD when they came from clubs and you got them in the mail so I picked this one expecting there to only be 2 songs I would like, the ones I heard, but I ended up playing this album all the time. I miss them!
