Electric tape is so dang handy. I started carrying it when I was doing telco work at some previous jobs and found it to be handy for so many random things. Heck, I use mine a lot of first aide as it can make a really solid bandage with some gauze or wrapping over a bandaid. For folks who are watching who might not be versed in electrical stuff, you can melt electrical tape to shrink it. Not recommended for first aide applications but repairing a hole in your bag? Melt it on. Tying some cabling together permanently? Melt it down. Just a quick exposure to lighters will do. It's like a crappier version of the shrink tubing.

I agree about camelback. It’s the best that I’ve used. I have a camelback bladder that I have mountain biked with for 7 years. I’ve had many spills where all my weight has landed on it, stays in my car for months on end in the sun... I take it bow hunting, up and down trees. still works with no leaks. Great video, just subscribed 👍

5:10 hydrate or diedrate also, there are mods that help with accessing integrated packs, the haley hitchhike for example converts their pack to do a similar flip over the head motion that the pack you showed off has. I personally run Agilite gear and I modded their AMAP integrated pack to be completely ripaway from the back of my carrier without having to remove the straps from the bag or the carrier from myself. Their system is already pretty good the way it comes, but all I needed was to pop in an extra plastic piece on each shoulder.

It's held up well over the years of being in the woods , other creeks and rivers and being slung around an ambulance Has great organization also . The main compartment mainly has some work related stuff plus a woobie , kbar and some smaller emergency stuff in the mesh pockets. Condor emt lite ifak on tbe side , outer pockets have various tools and survival/emergency stuff. Need to get a bottle carrier to give my self more space .

A good tip my father taught me, pack the heaviest stuff towards the top if you don’t need anything particularly quick. Your back will thank you later! For long expeditions I like to keep soft goods like blankets and layers at the bottom and heavier stuff like food, water and tools, and sometimes ammo at the top. Doing so will distribute the weight more evenly between your upper back and shoulders rather than just your lower back, and also doesn’t “drag” your shoulders back. It also doesn’t make your pack swing or bounce around as much, which believe it or not will wear you out slightly faster than a firm, tight pack set up!

Huh, I was taught heavy objects in the bottom of the bag closest to your hips, which carry the load.
@SideWays8Productions
@SideWays8Productions 3 жыл бұрын
@@redkaladin6864 depends on the pack frame, some are meant to carry more load on the hips, but those aren’t as common, so this rule generally applies to normal packs and most frames! Besides, unless the lower part of the frame is designed for the load, it’ll swing and pivot and put undue stress on your hips and back without the proper support.

Don't skimp on CamelBak bladders and hoses! They're the only brand that held up over the years. Bought one in Iraq in 2008 and it's still good. I've purchased other brands and they've all leaked within days.
@SideWays8Productions
@SideWays8Productions 3 жыл бұрын
My father is still using the same DCU pattern Camelbak day pack and 3DAP he got in Iraq in 2004, along with the bladders they came with. Thousands of gallons through each of them for the last 15 years with no issues and quite frankly minimal cleaning. I wouldn’t trust anything else to hold the most essential key to life lol

Msr bladders bro. I've popped 3 camelback that were mounted on the very top of my gear in my pack. Mounting them in the packs bladder slot almost guarantees a pop. The msr is way tougher and can be repaired with silicone adhesive.

I used to carry electrical tape but have switched to the smaller gorilla tape roll. You can tear it with your hands and I've found it's stronger and more waterproof than electrical tape. When I'm going full ultralight I wrap a smaller amount around my lip balm stick instead of carrying a full roll

I just have "a" pack, and everything in it by order of necessity, bagged up where I can pull it out without making a mess. If i leave my pack, I dont need to carry much, paper map, water, first aid kit, compas, knife, lighter, and though i love my 1911s, they're just too heavy, so my 26, or a 329pd... fishing pole, tackle box, rifle, depends.. may have a machete? Travel light, bring what you need. You can fit alot in a tackle box! Where I live, i wouldn't be buggin out, i would be getting home, im set up more for hunting or fishing trips. Im a truck driver, so I carry everything i need for getting home anyways. I do always have a leatherman on me, its too handy of a tool, just a plain ole leatherman.

Question about the second pair of socks: How do you get your first pair soggy without having soaked boats? Is this a sweat thing? If yes, how long does it takes under bad conditions (say 29°C/85°F, high humidity - marching) for a person with average sweaty feet?

Great way to know if your pack is too heavy is take it for a 2-4 mile walk around your neighborhood at a fast pace. See how you feel. Then do it again after a short break. By the time you're done you'll know for sure that its too heavy and you'll start looking for shit you don't think you'll really need.
