Malnutrition poses a significant barrier to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), affecting not only health but also education, economic prosperity, and societal well-being.
In sub-Saharan Africa, over 30% of children under the age of five, suffer from stunted growth due to chronic malnutrition, underscoring the urgency of our collective action.
On 13-17 May, 2024, Uganda held the third National Nutrition Forum (NNF) under the theme, "Unlocking Nutrition's Potential: Accelerating Multisectoral Actions and Strategic Investments for Enhanced Nutrition Security".
Since 2013, the Government and its partners have been organizing the National Nutrition Forum, which is a platform that brings together all nutrition stakeholders in the country. This forum is the highest level of engagement on nutrition by all stakeholders. Every two and a half years, the forum is convened and presided over by the Right Honourable Prime Minister to assess the implementation of Uganda Nutrition Action Plan. The forum brought together heads of government departments and agencies, ambassadors, development partners, policymakers, the private sector, civil society organizations, and academia.
The forum also featured oral and poster presentations, exhibitions, panel discussions, workshops, lightning talks, roundtable discussions, and virtual presentations.
