Building a super strong, heirloom quality, rustic farm house trestle style kitchen table with timber frame mortise and tenon joinery and proper breadboad ends. No screws or hardware were used in its construction and it was built with a combination of power tools and lots of hand tools and hand cut joinery.

@ThirdCoastCraftsman
@ThirdCoastCraftsman 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks David, i appreciate that. That sucks you have all that rain, that would get frustrating for sure. Have you tried a crystillined wax like Renaissance Wax? Lee Valley also sells a tool protecting wax. It forms a nice protective layer on your tools to prevent rust. I use it on all my tools and ive noticed a big improvement. Its better than oiling them.

Thank you! Background as far as woodoworking? I started woodworking with my Grandpa in his shop when I was a young boy and would go do projects with him from time to time. When he passed 2 years ago I really dove into my own journey in woodworking and gravitated towards the handtool stuff

@@ThirdCoastCraftsman Awesome dude. I lost my grandpa in 2011. I wish I would have made it a point to build more things with him. He was a craftsman as well. I've not tackled anything like this but I've taken on several projects and always wish he was around for them. My most recent is a built-in lighted bookshelf, 9'x14', I certainly had some questions to ask him going through that! Your grandpa's legacy lives on in your work dude. Keep hammering!

What an amazing table, Chris! You did such an awesome job with it! I wish I had a tenth of your skill with hand tools!! I can't believe that there's no fasteners in that thing, that's so cool! I would have gone through about 8 boxes of deck screws to hold my version together! lol! So if you had to, can you pound out the pegs to remove the top? Or is that on there permanently? Truly a stunning piece, Chris... fantastic job!

@ThirdCoastCraftsman
@ThirdCoastCraftsman 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Will, Thanks brother, much appreciated. Id say there is about 60-80 hours in it. granted filming really slowed me down, but it was definitely a long one. All those M&Ts take time too. I agree with you on natural wood too, but this was for a customer who wanted it stained, that being said, I am really happy with how this stain looked. Oak is so easily ruined with stain, so im happy how this turned out.

Beautiful work here. Making the transition from power tools to handwork myself. I like the "Blended" idea. Rough cutting and dimentioning with power tools and joinery by hand seems to be the best of both worlds. Thanks for this. Just subscribed and looking forward to more.

I’ve been playing with different ideas to attach the top for a trestle table. You came up with an awesome way to do that. Thank you for the very informative video

That was just about as good as a video on a table build can get. I understand how some may desire a longer version that is more in depth. This is more for entertainment, although you can get a general idea of the build.
