This was considered as a waste of time. ********* Elon has proven that with some hard work, a person can create a living by listening to other people's dreams. -- People in general, are willing to pay money to obtain their dreams. -- People do wish/dream for their skills to be used. -- Unite them, and watch them change the world. I learned more from this over any other interview of Elon musk even more than his biography in some ways .... really good to hear directly from him the challenges he faced with each of his companies and at different stages of each of them from beginning to end ... really well done interview and topics and letting Elon really go deep into everything great work guys!! Lesson I learned is that Elon’s success has a ton to do with tenacity resilience and persistence and less about intelligence or doing things perfectly the very first time. Lot of crazy ups and downs , but most important things amongst others is his framework for thinking and first principles rationale and for the questions formed and unique ways of solving different problems Think first principles, think differently, think rationally, creatively, and find other talented people who you can work with who do the same. And create something needed and lasting and epic together with them. !

@@m3rbs Well in The Republic Socrates does say that until all Kings are philosophers or Philosophers are Kings, the best form of governance is an Aristocracy (Democracy is 4th) ... how do you think we've been developing humanity. Also you're not bound to the class you're born into, and data shows 20% of the Aristocrats will completely squander their privileged position. Lol
@m3rbs4 жыл бұрын
@@Nick_Tag I disagree with Socrates then. I have read in depth about his opposition to democracy and I heavily consider his critique. The gist of it being that democracy becomes vulnerable due to the uneducated. In addition, all kings becoming philosophers or vice versa, imo, will never happen. Does that seem likely to you? It is more unlikely than advancing education so citizens can participate in democracy effectively. A benevolent elite will never form in the guise of capitalism. I'm not saying there aren't compassionate billionaires (hence, why I am watching this video), but I don't think that aristocratic capitalism is better in the long run. Thanks for your response.
@Nick_Tag4 жыл бұрын
@@m3rbs Fair enough, I just thought it was interesting when I read it. Direct democracy all the way -- but (for me) only fully informed / logically valid votes should be cast as it is time consuming. If any piece of data had an 'Office of National Statistics' emblem on it would be a lot faster to get to the truth. I'd consider Joe Rogan, Eric W, Lex F, et al the philosophers of our day and they are teeing up the conversation to Millions so that's a damn good start.

What's very apparent on this is the scale of risk you need to take to achieve anything of real significance. And the fine line between success and it not working. Had it not worked out, given the size of the risks he'd taken, he'd be lost in oblivion. MASSIVE balls to do what he did. He deserves all the success he's had.

@@mikheievavictoria6650like Jim said, this was an open conversation focused on Elon's story as he wanted to tell it. We framed the opening of the discussion by asking about the tweet that led to the meeting - Viv's first question. Then we let Elon take the conversation where he wanted to, leading into the next logical connected topic that made sense to him. We had a long list of questions as backup as you'll see we all had notes, but that wasn't what the purpose of the discussion was about this time. Future discussions with Elon will be different and depend on situation at those times.
