Hey Brenden! Cool video. You mentioned briefly about doing the “squeeze test”. I see people often doing this to assess how stiff a frame is. While it can you give you a rough first order sense of stiffness there’s perhaps a better way to assess frame stiffness that I think is more informative about real-world performance. I’ve recommended this to others and I’ll share it here as well. What I suggest is skating on one foot on a deep outside edge. You don’t need to be going fast, but have enough speed so you can roll about 5-10 feet. Try to maintain a consistent 45 degree angle on that single outer edge as you skate in as straight a line as possible. This will put a load into the frame such that the frame walls will want to rack. In other words, a flexible frame will become a parallelogram. A torsional load will be put into the bearings and you will experience this as a feeling as the skate slowing down, like someone is applying the brakes on the wheels. All frames flex to some degree under load (aluminum is not an infinitely stiff material). But some frames flex more than others and you should be able to feel varying degrees of “my wheels are not maintaining momentum while on this deep edge”. Ultimately stiffness translates into responsiveness. I hope that makes sense.
@ThirtyandRollin

Totally makes sense! Great test for that too. I will try this in the future. Thanks!

@@gamemind5989 I don’t think increasing frame flex yields more grip in the sense that upgrading wheels do. Can you elaborate on what you mean? Better urethane, and often softer durometer generally gives one more grip. Soft super padded liners, thick footbeds, and flexible frames all have the same net effect: a sluggish lag when translating movements in the leg/foot to movements in the skate. Intentionally designing flex into a frame will always make it less responsive (and maybe a little more comfortable to ride over bumpy terrain, which can be a good thing), especially if that flex occurs about the longitudinal axis of the frame. In other words, it’s generally preferred to not have the frame flexing inward or outward when you go on an edge. A good example of this are frames designed for slalom where grip and responsiveness are necessary to execute the precision movements. The fun part of designing something is weighing the trade-offs to create the performance and experience you intend. For recreational or aggressive styles of skating having a little squish can be just what one’s foot wants to feel. The boot, cuff, liner, footbed, wheels, and frame all synergize to create an overall feel.

Great comparison of the three! I have the Endless 90 and agree 100% about the 3x110. It's super low and feels great. The 4x90 is a little too short for me for 4 wheels but it's the perfect length for a 3 wheel setup. I skate NN Sumo the most and love it. You can't go wrong with Endless or NN. Great videos! love love love the 90mm NN, I still skate my stock FR 4*80 frame a lot, especially when I am learning say a new slide on asphalt but it is really easy to port moves to the 90's, though the speed bump sometimes gives me pause! I also run 86a wheels on the '90s and 85a on the 80 frame - makes the grab feel similar. You really should do a video where you break down your back to front and front to back pivot/slide on big frames they are so elegant and smooth looking.

When I mounted a 165mm mount Endless frame to my UFS boot, the added spacer seemed to change the angel of the foot bed by a couple degrees. When I stood up for the first time, I came close to falling backwards. Then when skating on them at the rink, I had to keep more weight on the balls of my feet to compensate. Just my opinion, but something to consider.
@ThirtyandRollin
@ThirtyandRollin 3 жыл бұрын
165 to UFS??? Not sure those frames are intended to adapt that way. I know you can go the other way around UFS to 165 without a problem. My adapted Rockin Frames felt perfect. Just like the other 165 frames in terms of angel.
@endlessblading
@endlessblading 3 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry you didn’t have the proper experience with your setup. As you may know, our 165 frames frames are not designed for UFS boots. We don’t recommend that anyone use Endless frames (or any frame for that matter) with either a 3D printed plastic adapter or even a machined metal one. An adapter requires a longer frame mounting bolt which sees higher bending loads due to the stack-up of the adapter. Structurally this is not an ideal joint, as bolts don’t like to be in bending (bolts are designed to be loaded in tension or shear). This will translate into more frame flex at the location of the adapter, and less power transfer. Using a plastic adapter, especially, could even present a safety issue. Please send us an email with more details about your setup if you don’t mind. I’d like to learn more about the kind of spacer/adapter you were using.

Hello, Brenden, congratulations on the comparative analysis! It would be useful to present a parameter related to adjusting the position of the frames. For example, because I generally pivot on the rear wheel, I prefer to mount the frame as far forward as possible so that the axle of the last wheel is under the heel. For Trinity frames, I have to grind/mill the holes a bit to push the frames forward.

Hey David! Good thing you pointed that out. In year 2020, if you wanted to get NN or Endless in Europe, you paid +30% from their value + shipping as customs taxes. Which were close to 60EUR (75USD). In 2021 NN and Endless are also sold at skateshops in Europe, so that's not the thing. And still, shipping from Germany to USA = USA customers don't pay import taxes / duties. I just want the endless convertible frames to have a variable rocker axle in the middle for the tri-skate setup. They could even send it with two axles, one where up is flat, and down is natural rocker, and the second with a progressive rocker up, and banana rocker when down. An EVEN BETTER thing they could do with V2's is have 4-way convertible frames. 4x90 natural rocker, 3x110 long wheelbase flat, 3x110 short wheelbase natural rocker, and 5x72 natural rocker all in one frame. Even better if they also send a grind block to replace the middle wheel with. You'd only ever need ONE frame to do basically everything with.

Feel free to get in touch with us and we’d be happy to help you with sizing an Endless frame for your setup and skating style and skill level. I personally skate a size 40 FR1 and love skating the Endless 100 which is 303 mm long. It can be daunting at first to consider a longer frame if you’ve only ever skated flat setups. But the slight rocker in our 4-wheel setups gives you an effective wheelbase that is even shorter than 231 mm flat. That means the skate will be super maneuverable due a short effective wheelbase while the overall wheelbase will give you stability. The only thing you really have to adapt is doing crossovers. Most people seem to adjust in a matter of hours or days depending on skill level. I hope that helps! Feel free to reach out if we can assist.

I thought you were going to crown Endless the winner. 4x90 and 3x110 in one frame with great execution for both is quite nice.

@@ThirtyandRollin Yeah my head to head on endless vs IQON is very similar. IQON 3x110 wheel rocker is pretty fun and faster than the 4x90. Endless 3 wheel feels VERY much on rails in comparison even to normal tri skates to me

I think that it's always apples vs oranges if you compare these three manufacturers and their 165 mm spacing frames. Endless frames give you 2 in 1 setups, but because they have went for lowest possible setup height, the compatibility of their 4x100 model is limited to boots which can accept 180 mm bolt spacing. I know the video is about 4x90 frames, but I still think that 4x100 is considered the "true" Wizard setup by many. NN Skates have a very nice compatibility with boots, especially in their Dragon and Bot frames, thanks to multiple holes for the bolts. This is very important for those who have boots without any means of adjusting the frame front to back: Twister, Twister Edge, RB 80, FRX. The fact that all of their frames are compatible with 195 mm mount spacing too is a nice bonus, even though it won't be used by many. Rockin frames are perfect for those who are skateheads (like me) and have several UFS and 165 mm skates at home. The fact that you can put the same frame on 165 mm boot for longer distance/city skating and use it with your UFS boots to blend these flatland moves with some grinds is great. In the end, even though I like the looks of NN Skates frames the most, I decided to go for Rockin frames (plan to put together a setup with RB Blank skate next year) simply because I feel these guys have the least following and I want to support them, also because they come from Europe (where I live).

That is a great point for a UFS frame but NN Skates makes UFS version now too. But it's always great to support the underdog!

@@ThirtyandRollin That is exactly what I do, but i also feel much more fluid while street skating too. Leon Basin was using the Delux frames in his first big wheels edits btw. It inspired him to make Wizards. Slalom skating is actually is a farther of Wizard skating, but tbh, I feel is still much more fun than Wizard skating. The edits i have referred to are: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3-3eqxubJiXpbM&ab_channel=SEBASKATES kzbin.info/www/bejne/imKYeKGBp7KKbs0&ab_channel=MushroomBlading Just see how fluid Leon is in both of them, especially that sick fakie 540 in the second edit!

My favorite all round big wheel setup is a 4x100. But the 4x110s push a bit more into speed, smoothness and stability at the cost of some maneuverability. Still fun though!

The new Endless 110’s are presently in production. They will be available this fall and will do 4x110 (balanced rocker) and 3x125 (flat-ish). I am really excited about the performance of this design. I really worked hard to reduce the weight while maintaining stiffness. They are battle cruisers!

@@benjiblading2548 I feel that it is. It’s a bit lighter which means better acceleration and less fatigue over longer distance. I’ve also found it to be more responsive when maneuvering or attempting any kind of trick. The version you have lacks the internal bridges that the production version has. That allowed me to maintain stiffness while removing mass in strategic places.

I normally really like and enjoy your videos - but the comparison today I simply cannot agree with! Saying that the NN skates Frame is the most versatile when it comes to mounting options just is not fair and can really easily be misunderstood! Yes you can buy them in three different options…but the only frame that you can mount to two different boots out of the box is the rockin’ frame!
@ThirtyandRollin
@ThirtyandRollin 3 жыл бұрын
That's true but I was simply saying that NN Skates is currently the only frame manufacture that makes their frames in all 3 mounting options. I even called out Rockin Frames in the 'Special Feature' section for the ability to use their frame on 2 different mounts with one frame. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

I easily see you in one of those crime videos where the narrator describes what dishonesty looks like. From the very beginning it feels like you are walking on egg shells. Trying to avoid any accidental criticism that you may actually have about these products, just because you got all of them sent to you for free...

I've always wanted to eat food of a bench someone has rollerbladed over. It's not like you had those wheels all over town in all sorts of environments and picked up god knows what and transferred it to the bench people sit and eat at. Sadly all the latest skating videos seem to be about scoring points blading over everything going without once thinking that's some ones property your abusing. We have skate parks for a reason. Soon skating will be banned due to the reckless behavior of the few. Over here they are already screaming about e-scooters being banned.

This is a stellar video but you’re missing the most important aspect of any discussion of $200+ skate frames: how am I supposed to get this purchase past my wife?!? I’ve got short frames, I’ve got long frames, I’ve got three wheel frames, I’ve got four wheel frames, I’ve got flat frames, I’ve got rockered frames, so when it comes super-premium frames, help me complete this sentence: “honey dearest, I know I have a bunch of skates and frames already, but I need THESE frames because […]” But seriously…I don’t have any of these frames yet so this video is super helpful. I have full rocker 243mm and they’re way too twitchy for general skating (in my opinion) so a longer frame and “subtle rocker” sounds great. Frames which also have a flat 3x110 option sound double great. I also wanted to mention a feature of the NN that most people would overlook: 195mm mounting holes. Speed and marathon boots use 195mm and the Rollerblade E2 is a particular favorite of mine. You can take the ankle cuffs off the boot and make it a super-light, super-comfy skate that’s also super-fun with a shorter frame. You wouldn’t do aggressive stuff with it, but for exploring the city or doing footwork it’s a unique combo. Finally, I just marvel at the fact that smaller companies exist which can sell really specialized stuff like this direct to skating enthusiasts. You don’t get much more “niche market” than premium inline skate frames. But they’re doing it, and we’re buying…once we can figure out a good excuse for the wife/husband/S.O. that is.
