I know a lot of people have already addressed this but I thought I would chip in for those that need it. Yes, he said 991 which is correct. Just like with most manufacturers, Porsche have a Type/Chassis number for all models. The types for the 911 in chronological order are: 911 classic-> 964 -> 993 -> 996 -> 997 -> 991. These are all 911 and the 991 second generation is the current model, referred to as 991.2.
@superspec41777 жыл бұрын
If you wanna be thorough, it's 901 -> 930 -> 964 -> 993 -> 997 -> 997.2 -> 991 -> 991.2 (Edit: Yes, I'm aware that it isn't actually called the 901 because Peugeot has the rights to that type of name, but that was the original name for the 1st gen 911.)

+Superspec You may have wanted to forget but there was a 996 and 996.2, as well...

I imagine he does, but he is also a very good driver though. Watch some of the videos out there where he competes in races like the Goodwood Classic
@Kneedragon19627 жыл бұрын
Yes, he does make a mistake now and then, but mostly he's pretty damn good. It's not every motoring journo that Porsche invite in to drive their first LeMans winning 962, straight out of the museum. There's a certain amount of trust in that, and the trust is there for a reason. He is a very good person to have on top gear, because they don't need a racing driver with no face, they now have one who can talk, and he's actually quite clever and funny and nice, and better than that, like Vikki Butler-Henderson (or what-ever the woman's name is) he can talk and be nice and charismatic and attractive, and he can drive at the same time, and not everybody can do that!
@sixstringedthing7 жыл бұрын
You can watch him stick his BMW 325 rally car into the ditch on his old "Chris Harris on Cars" channel... not really his fault though, broke a tie rod. Paul Graham, the Autocar videos with Martin Brundle were great! At one point Harris says "I don't spin cars very often... I spun this one twice", feeling pretty embarrassed I think. The conditions at Silverstone were horrendous on the day though... subzero temperatures and ice on the track in places. Martin was very complimentary about him though, said he did good job very difficult conditions.
@nearlyagoodlaugh7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, in one of those Goodwood videos he spins a 250 LM on purpose to avoid going into the back of a Cobra that brakes earlier than he was expecting, but he gets right back on course after that, and it was really his only option to avoid a crash.

I think TGT does great, I think there are a lot of viewers like me, who think its a step back from the top gear times, but that can change and I'm sure they will fix the tent bits a bit, cause they were the worst in terms of feeling scripted and it wasn't even funny IMO.

Why the hate on rory?
@v_alexiadis7 жыл бұрын
I truly don't understand how people find TGT heavily scripted. It isn't. Those three have such a great chemistry that it doesn't need to be. Contrary to TG which actually looks heavily scripted and how can it not be? They don't have a good chemistry yet to have a banter, it all seems way too forced. Also, Rory is incredibly boring. Anyway, this is Chris Harris Drives and I'm glad he continues to make these videos.

Speculators and collectors have really messed up the GT3 (+RS) scene. .. they are too expensive to drive now where once they were relatively a common sight. I see more McLarens than GT3's. ..... there are a lot of exotic cars around Aberdeen. A lot of RWD supercars being driven timidly by 65+yr old men. They are lambs to the slaughter for my missus in her RS6 nevermind youngsters in Golf R's. .... not sure what my point was .... don't get old but if you do and are rich make sure you thrash your supercar and don't get humiliated by Golf R's.

After this one, you won't anymore. Because you'd have one in manual.

This still doesn't feel like top gear but Chris Harris is amazing at what he does and I'm glad his style didn't change

Another great video. Cheers Neil and Chris for providing some great insightful content on what the new 991.2 GT3 is like to drive. Shocked at the negative comments here, Chris is truly one of the most talented drivers and presenters of this generation. Keep up the great work.

Chris, a big thanks. this review was one of the few available online when a GT3 991.2 became suddenly avail at a local Porsche dealership. The GT3 wasnt on my radar at all. i knew i only had a few days to make a decision as it was akin to finding a pink unicorn in a forest and wasnt going to sit there. this was an extremely well done review by you, as expected, and pushed me to purchase it. Its truly a visceral raw driving experience. and yes, its a manual...

This isn't Top Gear . This is Chris Harris on Cars! Top Gear is long gone.

Easily the best car reviewer there is! Insane energy in every single review. I don't think there has ever been a bad "Chris Harris" video.
