I absolutely love Dr. Andrew Huberman’s podcast. Aaaaand, just go to the ancient yogic and Buddhist sutures for the original teachings of meditation… This is describing the process of Drishti and Dhyana. It’s nice that western sciences finally catching up to work has been known for thousands of years… But those who really want to practice go to the OG’s. Namely, Patanjali’s yoga sutras, and the teachings of the Buddha. 🙏🙏🙏

@nisalaprabhath62719 ай бұрын
@@aaronkaminski9138 usually what i did was try and focus on my breathing strating from my nostrils all the way to my lungs. I think the key point here is that you are controlling your mind in such a way that you are thinking only about a single thing (breathing or may be something else) for a longer period of time. Eventually you will be able to control your mind even when you are not meditating. Uncontrollable rapid train of thoughts is a consequence of an untrained mind. I believe Nirvana in buddhism is ultimately having no thoughts at all. I know It sounds weird senseless but that made a lot of sense after i thought about it for a while.

This meditation style is very simple, but it may not be super accessible to a total beginner who gets intensely frustrated by the constant need for refocusing. That process is not necessarily enjoyable for someone who has yet to cultivate patience and self-compassion. For those who would like to meditate more seamlessly, I would recommend that they practice yoga nidra and related NSDR protocols. These guided meditations will help to build focus and concentration in a more effortless way.

I agree that practice is key, you will drift but just sit down every day and make time for meditation you will drift less and less. The brain is thinking all the time, it's not that you're trying to stop yourself from thinking, just recognise it during meditation 'Oh I'm thinking', then move back to your breathing. A really great piece of advice I received was to try to make space between your eyebrows, it will help your focus and help to relax your muscles.
