Motor and transmission has never had to be apart. Still runs and drives better then some new cars I have driven. Extremely quiet inside, AC blows cold, everything works as it should, only have had to replace blower resistor once to updated resistor $15 from the dealer, 3 radiators I do it myself in 30 - 45 minutes in my driveway, both electric cooling fan motors once and a new set of brushes in the original alternator last year $8 online, 1 hour job in my driveway. Amazing reliable car and quiet inside... Most new cars have too much road noise inside then for me! Even has original exhaust system and muffler!!!

While I agree with RF interfering with car systems, its not wireless frequencies that's causing the interference. Its RF being fed back into the car's wiring. A simple fix we've used in the past is adding a DC line noise filter on the plugs you are using.

I also svc his girlfriends 96"Honda Civicc LX(it also passes legal emission insp)- Bro Scotty is the real deal auto Tech(not a parts changer)- I found this channell doing tech update info for a 2002 Ford F-150 , I automatically recognized this man as a good/honest/ qualified mechanic, ya"ll pay attention & you will benefit from his hard earned skillset.

I was taught to look at what I liked in another person and to emulate & aspire, to become knowledgeable and respect the accomplishments of others. But instead of looking at other men with respect for their accomplishments & their hard earned knowledge they are childishly rude & insulting. If they want to be comedians they are just too damn silly to realize this Isnt a comedy channel. Humor in a conversation does not include rude insults Involving the man your speaking to. Comedy & humor are not the same, duh! Sir, it's so refreshing to read the remarks from a confident grown man. @@davidhamilton506 It's Scotty Kilmer. His agitation incites flights of thought. I drive old cars myself, I know all about fixing all the neglected s*** on them. In the bad old days of American cars with cast iron 6's and V-8's, when I got a used car, sometimes it took me a year to fix all the bad work done by previous owners. I even found instances of inarguable mechanic sabotage done to set up more repairs. In today's cars, all you see are the consequences of neglect, sometimes motivated by the understandable unwillingness of the previous owners to pay shop rates for little s*** like drive axles or struts. The problem is, the sellers often want to take only the price of the repair off the book value. If they thought their car was worth so much, why don't they fix and then sell it for full price? Let people have their fun. You don't know half the story.

Physicists understand Electromagnetism and EMI perfectly well Scotty. They also understand RFI as does any radio ham. The laws regarding it have been known for over a century now. I also doubt that they would use a switch mode power supply to drop from 12V to 5 when it's cheaper and cleaner to use a DC-DC converter. There are many solid state types. The problem comes with them when they are poorly made. They overheat and short causing a power spike. That is enough to do damage to car systems. Switch mode power supplies are used for large voltage drops like 230V (or 120V) to 12V (or 5V) and work by rectifying the mains voltage to DC, then switching it on and off very quickly as they can use a smaller transformer in circuit.

It's true that, RF interference can emanate from poorly shielded or low-quality 5V chargers and other electronic accessories connected to the 12V car socket. When these devices are in use, they generate electrical signals, and if not adequately shielded, these signals can radiate RF interference. This interference can then propagate through the vehicle's electrical system and potentially interfere with sensitive electronics within the car. With that being said. I've had absolutely zero problems with them. I've been using one that has 6 USB slots for several years with zero problems..

garzascreek voltage divider circuit
@davezimmerman15105 жыл бұрын
Sarge your mistaken only way to do that is a resistive voltage divider which uses much more power than the device your charging and can only function properly on a fixed load. That’s why these switching supplies , dc to dc converters were developed in the first place. Only thin that can be done is lower the swithing frequency and that’s why Scotty recommended the standard 60hz inverters. You must convert dc to ac and back to desired dc volts to avoid massive power loss and heat The lower the frequency ( less interference) the larger the components and size of device Always a trade off

@CdGreven5 жыл бұрын

I have one of those cheap 4-usb slot adapters in my car and I haven’t had any problems (yet) but I also only ever really use one at a time, maybe two if I have friends in the car. So the minimal draw helps there. As an electrician, I would never use those wonky cigarette lighter extension things that lets you plug more stuff in it though, that just looks like an electrical fire waiting to happen. Someone’s bound to plug 20 different things into it and draw far too many amps through that circuit. The extension itself could be built to handle the amperage, but the wiring for a cigarette lighter likely isn’t. Just like it’s dangerous to plug way too many things into an outlet, it’s dangerous to plug way too many things into your cigarette lighter. It’s built to power one or maybe two things, not charge 10 phones simultaneously.
