Hello, im the owner of the 400 000 km car. Im from Belgium and travel a lot in Holland, Germany for my job. The blue car in the picture is not my car, it's a grey september 2016 Giulia Super 2.2 diesel 180 HP. I can assure honestly that this car has done 400 000, and whitout any problem. Just very normal maitenance. I can send pictures of the service record book, so You can see for yourself. I had an Alfa 159 Sportwagon before, and have done 450 000 with it, also without trouble and normal care. Everyone who doesent take this seriously can contact my dealer. Forza Alfa Romeo!!!

Exactly. Before the 2 Stelvio I had 4 Alfa 156 JTD and only the first one suffered from a premature waste gate valve failure. After fixing that in didn’t show any more problems. And it was the first gen of common rail diesels. The others did an average of 200k km with no issues at all. And that was the time when everybody was claiming the superior reliability of German cars ...

Hi Raf. Can I ask... did you get your car serviced at a main dealer or at an independent garage? Also, how often/how many miles/KMs did you get oil and filters changed? Thank you!

@@rafcoolen3104 Thank you for replying so quickly Raf 😁 I have always wanted an AR, from when I first saw the early 60s cars, to the 156, 159 and now the Giulia. But, here in the UK, there are still a lot of people who believe AR are too unreliable and it worried me. However, after reading your story, I am reassured and I will now start looking for a Giulia! Thank you very much!

I've been driving Alfa Romeos for more than 28 years now, covering over 1.2M kms with them. All of them was over 10 years by the time I have purchased them except an Alfa 33 which we bought at age of 3 but had it for only a year beacause my ex have traded it to a Chrysler LeBaron Cabrio. The others mostly V6 models of 80's GTV6 and Alfa 164s. There was a few years when I did 60-80T kms a year not to mention other cars I drove beside mine's. V6 Alfa 164s did over 300-350T kms with the original clutch and had no serious issues in any other terms as well. The GTV6 I used the longest had over 460T kms in its tacho when I realized that one of the piston rings must fail, so we decided about an engine rebuild. Unfortunately a shy 10T kms later it died in an accident, but it saved our life, so my 7-year old daughter and me left the wreck without any injuries. Over that 28 years I had only 2 occasion when I didn't get home in my car. One was a faulty, aftermarket half-shaft joints which failed a thousend km after its installation and as we were 300 kms far from home I didn't take the risk to return on its own feet. The other occasion was an alternator failiure which wasn't obvious as the charge error light did not lit on the dashboard but when the battery was close to deplate different error messages popped up on the display reporting ESP-system, then ABS-system failiure finally the lights started to go down and obviously it has happened at night. I know many German car owner who would be glad with the statistic I have, sad for them they had 1-4 serious stops over the first 100T kms with their cars.

Alfas which are under the FCA group are literally developed by Ferrari. The research and money placed into the Giulia is outstanding along with Ferrari intellectual property and expertise in building well made cars is literally embodied in a sedan version. As we all know the modern Ferrari of this recent decade are much sturdier and well manufactured giving a much higher reliability than before due to the advent of advanced materials that has greater durability. It is also expected of luxury owners that they want a car that has it all, including durability of use with high performance. Ferrari is at the pinnacle. Chevrolet isn't and fiat isn't reliable at all. So when Ferrari developed Alfa's sedans, you're going to get the DNA of precision, well built cars that were designed to take punishment and also be hassle free as Long as you don't get in an accident. I think that is a lot they are offering. A well taken care of Alfa romeo today will last for sometime just like Ferraris and the price point is perfect for enthusiasts

I’m driving my second Stelvio diesel 210hp and I love it to every bit. With the first one I did around 100k miles with just one issue: I had occasional warnings from the engine board computer advising to take the car to the service. It turned out to be caused by poor quality of the AdBlue additive. As soon as I payed attention to the brand of this liquid I never had issues again. No oil consumption (ask VW group owners what their engines are like on this regard) and no other care apart from filling up with windscreen washer liquid. My colleagues with the so reliable German cars suffered from many issues, like leakage of engine coolant,, oil consumption, failure of the braking pads usage sensors and so on. One with a brand new Q5 had an engine problem that led to the service “limping” at 20 miles an hour. And it took 2 weeks to understand the issue. Four of us chose the Stelvio and had no issues. So what? Are we still convinced that Germans do it better ?

I've owned 6 Alfa since my first in the 90s which was a 75 Veloce and everyone of them has been reliable. It's a real shame that so many sheep missed the opportunity to drive a Busso engined Alfa Romeo. You can get a suitable grade if oil that will 20k miles / 30k kilometres for that engine. Additionally the gearbox should have been serviced annually. I use Fuchs Titan rated for 40,000 miles in a van that I drive 700-1000 miles per week. It’s 9 years old and still going strong with 250k miles. I think I would have fitted an oil catch can from new if I knew I was going to cover that many miles. It would save the EGR and swirl flaps from getting too gunked up.

Ron. I love Alfas. Always have. This video seems a little incorrect. UK cars calibrated in MPH. Car shows KMH. Also radio station FG Extra is a Belgian station (on the centre display). Why is this supposedly a UK car? I know it's done the distance. But why claim it to be a UK car? Apart from that carry on making the great videos we all love 👍

? I think you're just not used to seeing it. I'm from Greece, Italy is the next country to the left, and as you'd expect Greece is full of Italian cars. Lots of Alfas, and people regularly put 200 and 300k on them. Especially anything with a diesel motor.

According to the photo of the blue Giulia it is the „Veloce“ model (to recognize at the rear diffusor and the badge at the side fender) which corresponds to „Ti Sport“ in the States. The Diesel engine in the EU Giulia Veloce is always the variant with 210 hp. The 150 and 190 hp Diesels are no Veloces. Just to answer to your question from the video 👍

Adrian Hand Thx for your objection! It made me find the facts: The Giulia we‘re talking about is none of the ones to be seen in Ron‘s video. In reality it is not even from the UK but from the Netherlands. It‘s a 2016 Giulia (neither Veloce nor Speciale) with the 150 hp Diesel and RWD in Grigio (I guess Grigio Vesuvio). The owner has posted it in the comments of the original post in the „Alfisti“ group on Facebook a few days ago

Clearly Alfa is doing something right, and they will only get better with time. Sure one can encounter a glitch here 'n there, but what car doesn't! Great to see a Giulia with that many kms on it already, plates look from the UK, how does someone drive that much around that area or mainland Europe in such little time!?

Rons Rides Rons Rides Diesel engines are great for their torque and fuel economy. On the other side you don‘t miss the tractor sound, vibrations and limited rev band. In reality Europeans envy the Americans these days for not being forced to drive particulate filters and rev limiters with their gasoline engines with the effect of damped sound -> you get the cool stuff! 😅

Yes in did, and I have/had 4 of them (1.3mjet, 1.6mjet, 2.0mjet). But also have 2 petrol from FCA (1.4tjet, 20vTurbo) and they are way way better. If mpg is not a problem, diesel is no solution at all. Beside, the guilia 2.0 turbo as plenty of torque and a good mpg also. Diesel with adblue, DPF, EGR are very problematic for city use.

Rons Rides actually it’s not so difficult to do that mileage if you travel every day around the country. For my job I do around 5k miles a month. That makes around 60k a year plus an extra mileage for personal use and holidays, if I’m not traveling by plane. So in three year, which is the standard rental period for company cars I do on average 200k miles which is not far from that figure .....

It didn’t changed my mind about Alfa reliability, because I prefer FCA brands, specifically FPT products for their mechanical reliability. I’m the kind of driver that pushes the engine almost every single day, I don’t trust any brand to put up with my driving style.

@captainculpeper1250

@footballcoreano the reliability issues were old Alfa Romeos from decades ago.... The tech back then was insignificant to what the modem world brings.
