As a light novel reader, I can confirm that the story is written in a way thats meant to invoke past memories and nostalgia while dealing with the present. The anime technically failed to capture this vibe. Edit: all of your questions will be answered in S2 man, given it's directed and handled well

Yeah from the flow of the story it would’ve been difficult to pull that off in anime form unless it was allowed to take its time.

Appreciate you giving the review so I don't have to finish this anime. I made it to episode 4 and became completely uninterested in the characters and the story. I had to see if I was missing anything by skipping 8 episodes. Thank you for saving me a night of a poorly written anime.

Dang this show seems like its all over the place and seems like all your critique's are valid. The flashbacks seems like they ruin the show . Will be seeing if your S2 review makes you enjoy it more!

I try to point out the good (no matter how little there is). In the case of this story I can see where the creator wants to go with it, but how it's presented is awful. Overall it's bad, which is disappointing since it has an interesting idea.

I always just saw this as a romance anime. Never really thought the plot or anything was a main focus. And by romance anime standards, i feel like it fits in quite well with all the other romances. I personally don't like romance anime. And think that 98-99% of the genre is full of absolute trash, but most people don't think so. I can't really find a difference between the quality of the romance in this story and those other romance stories, so I feel like they're equal tbh. Except maybe that this one has cooler animation and the ending song is a jam

Don't like romance anime that much myself, but there's definitely several really good ones I've enjoyed. As for the romance aspect of this show it's there, but not done super well, mainly since the story is all over the place. Like it's there; you see the flashbacks showing how close they got and it probably was the best part of the show, but if I graded that alone it's maybe a 4-5/10.

Feel like it's more so the title is the only thing good about the whole idea.
