I am also curious how many listeners are interested in visual storytelling! I started out in animation and am now pursuing making my own graphic novels. To that end, I recently started taking writing classes. Telling my own stories with my own art has been a goal of mine for a long time. This interview really resonated with me. Chris's story is quite inspiring.

Back to back all your episodes have been incredibly life changing to me, forcing me to constantly re-evaluate my current trajectory, and I appreciate this Podcast so much for that.

I'm very happy I listened to this episode, since there was a lot of backlash in the communities I partake in over a Chinese story being told a western company. Seeing the passion and empathy Chris Appelhans has when speaking of China and the people in his life really makes me excited for the movie.

Chris, if you see this by any chance, thank you SO MUCH for this movie. It will truly create change in peoples hearts, and it is so damn inspiring to see what you did with basically starting alone. A spark that lit a fire. Thank you.

Thanks so much for doing this guys, you say you're not teaching on the podcast but we all learn so much each episode. The movie was wonderful and thanks Chris for your insights on storytelling as an artist and what's involved in making a film. Loved it guys, thank you.

One thing that i realize just recently it was that actually the thing that its actually maked me want to work in movies and videogames it wasnt the actual drawing or the modeling , it was actually the story when i think about many years ago i started to making trailers and edit them or even before making little comics-like just having 8 years old, or more recently playing games like last of us part 2 , uncharted or seeing anime series of genious like satoshi kon and works like paprika or perfect blue the thing that every one had in common was the story, the message, the interpretation that left me.The passion that i have about it it makes me actually to want to being involve in create stories like them , i have been drawing for almost two years and i have been improving very much and actually enyoing the process mostly , but now that i think about it what i want to do its be part of some team to actually create worlds and characters that provoque the same feelings. If someone have some idea of what actually i should be funeling all the efforts to reach that goal i would appreciate the help. cheers

Same here man. I've tried writing short stories then screenplays then storyboards for my imaginary movies then now drawing. I've realized that it's all about me wanting to express myself through stories through whatever medium I'm interested in at the time. I love the catharsis that I feel when I consume stories, and I want to make other people feel the same way with my own.
