Definitely! I used the grubs in the surf and the carrot sticks in the bay!

I had the short hit problem when I started using the curly tail grubs, back in the late 70's. Solved the problem by breaking off half the tail. They grabbed the whole thing right away!

Very cool Benjie…thanks for the tip on how to use the lure. I like the underwater action and good job not letting your family go hangry👍

You make it look so easy. Spent 4 hours this weekend with gulp worms and curly tail grubs. And skunked. 🦨
@BenjieKimFishing3 жыл бұрын
It's not you, its the fish!! You can't catch what's not there. Find the structure find the fish. But then again, some days they bite and other days they nap lol. I've got skunk days too bro, we all do.

Thanks again bro , your overhead tutorial , is such a huge help , to actually see what you mean , and I wanna check our those motor oil grubs , I'm here in Monterey Waters , so your on a Carolina rig , okay... 🤝

Thank you brotha, means a lot to me. C-Rig works for me but then again, I'm used fishing much calmer surf. I have no doubt the fish finder rig or hi lo does really well too, especially up north.

You are Killin it up and down the west coast! So why aren't socal perch as large as NorCal and the central coast?
@BenjieKimFishing3 жыл бұрын
I'm a grinder and sometimes it works out brotha! I don't have any scientific evidence but many would point to overfishing as it wasn't very long ago that the big BSP were very common on our side of the coast. Given the pressure that we get on our beaches down here, I think I tend to agree. But who knows, it could be environmental factors (water temp...) and whatnot. And to be fair, there are still good BSP to be found, especially down in San Diego. But it still doesn't compare to my experience in the CC.

Could throw a LC in that hole, surprisingly perch go after it
@BenjieKimFishing3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, I was chucking the lc that day for sure, it just wasn’t getting bit. Lots of salad getting in the way. The LC is my favorite way to target them up there but sometimes you gotta adjust and go with what they’re eating that day!

Nice! Is the water cold enough that you need waders? I'll be up at Pismo next month to take my daughter back to school. Going hit the sand once I hope.
@BenjieKimFishing3 жыл бұрын
The water is colder up there for sure compared to SoCal. Personally, I'd recommend waders especially if you want to reach some deeper holes.

I was about to say they were all female, but then I saw that last one was male. In the summer months the females are gravid and give birth to live baby perch. I'm glad to see you let that one pregnant one go. I feel that ever since the fish and game changed the limit from 5 to 10, their numbers have been dwindling. They should change the regulations to not keep the females during the summer months and to also reduce the limit back down to 5. Perch fishing used to be good several years ago, but now they are more difficult to find due to over fishing. People are so wasteful, they keep more than what they need!
@BenjieKimFishing3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, apologies on just getting back to your thoughtful comment now. I wouldn't be opposed to lower limits. For me personally, I release most of what I catch so my thoughts on that are admittedly based on my personal preference. Regardless of where one stands, I do believe we should all be mindful of doing our part to promote a healthy and thriving fishery!
