ive bin doing this with hardware samplers, turns out i've really been trying to push all software like this now! I thought it was secret things I do but seems other people are on this tip also! was shocked to see what your doing, I couldn't explain it as good as you I dont think. every time I try and explain it to a non synth person they are like here we go again .. he's talking his music language and will take up all my time lol. good to see someone else on this tip too I guess ! onwards we roll, thanks to tech

A quite excellent and much appreciated tutorial. It's a bit(wig) fast for me for casual tutorial following, but dug the hour-and-a-half-long challenge, already knowing how to press pause and all.... I'm slightly new to Bitwig but not to DAWs, but have to say that I'm creating music more comfortably than I have in a long time (on a computer). The linked preset is very musical. Thanks again. Subscribed.

Despite this video being quite complicated, it actually was really useful to see this as a beginner to music production. I've learned how sound is made, how the polymer and phase-4 work under the hood, and how to undo the abstraction of the oscillation process and fully control what waves are given to these instruments. It's quite crazy how many different sounds you made JUST with modulation; here's me thinking that I should learn all the knobs and devices first so I know what to modulate, but now I'm thinking that modulations are very powerful. This is almost like a 'sound synthesis from first principles' crash course - you went from very basic 'here's how sound works' to 'now we know how sound works, we can do this'. I love that bitwig follows these laws in its programming and makes it possible to give so much control to its user. I'm so glad I chose it as my DAW

This is REALLY good, and an added bonus is that there is CRAZY aliasing on higher notes! It sounds beautiful arguably a form of synthesis! It can be controlled somewhat with using a higher sample rate but even at 96Khz there is some there! Beautiful!

So you get modular random wavetable FM/phase _and_ additive synthesis for the price of a Polymer and a couple special LFOs connected by a DC offset simulating wavetable? This is next level modulation, and the result is beyond mesmerizing. I'm sold. Just the creativity to think of such a contraption colours me impressed. Even the Bigwig UI looks comparatively clean for facilitating a hack like this.

Things start to go crazy in Bitwig 😄 But one question I have now, is that if I want to create multiple voices per note and detune them, like in a traditional synth. Obviously there is no way to do it for now? Of course we can use a chorus effect to de tune the sound. But it’s not quite the same.

@@PolarityMusic I'll have to try this. Does it only work with this "DC offset" wavetable? Often I just want to add a second oscillator. I guess I could just be using the grid.
@konskift

Set the polymer DC-offset wavetable to 'disable wavetable interpolation' and you can get a 1bit wave! If someone with serum made a wavetable with 8 steps plus zero... you could get a 3bit wave and so on.
