I’d take a Thrush welded muffler over a Flowmaster any day. I’ve been running one for 3 years and it doesn’t have a speck of rust on it.

I'd run Flowmaster and just hit it with high temp paint. They always rust at the welds.

I have a set of 11 year old Flowmaster 44s that were powdercoated and they don't have any rust at all. I also don't live around road salt, so my mufflers take a long time to wear out usually. I have some purple hornies on my farm truck and they've been on there for 20+ years and they still have most of their purple paint. Road salt will eat aluminized steel

Guys gotta stop pushing everybody for these loud freaking mufflers. Loud does not always sound good. No it is not a hybrid of a black widow, and a magna flow. They’re not even remotely similar. The burn marks from the welds are the only thing like black widow. Guy narrating is nice n all but sheesh, some of the stuff he says is completely baseless and made up.

You seemed shocked that a steel muffler, made in China, rusted out in 3 years. The one just installed will probably look very similar in the same amount of time. If you want the muffler to visually last and support “America” as the blacked out flag on the tailgate suggests, purchase and install an American muffler made from stainless.

In my truck that I no longer have because I sold it, I had a sloppy stage 1.5 cam in it (6.0 LQ4) I like thumpy cams not choppy cams. I was running short tube headers and glasspacks with downturn exhaust tips halfway underneath the truck. She was an amazing thumper. I remember pulling up to stoplights thumping and people would just stare at me because it would vibrate their car. 😂

I have Flowmasters that are 34 Years Old and not Rusted, and I Live in Michigan. Granted it's never been driven in Winter, but it has been Stored Outside under a Car Cover for some of those Years. Maybe the Newer Ones are made Cheaper like everything else.

I took the huge factory muffler (2 pipes in, 2 outs) and replaced with straight pipes emptying into the stock Escalade dual tip. It's loud and obnoxious but no drone. It's my beater, '05 Escalade ESV AWD.

And I'm tuned to rev to 5500 but at 5100 I get a nasty fuel cut and bog, I think it's from a clogged cat like you said. It'll still rev past 5100 but on hard acceleration it stutters there bad, I wanna get high flows

@@LandonClimbs mine got really oil contaminated due to the PCV, I had codes on bank 1 and 2, now it's only on bank 1, I'm speculating that maybe bank 2 is clogged to the point the flow is so low that the down stream sensor thinks its working again 😅, mine bogs really bad between 2k and 2500 rpm, seems down on power in general, and it doesn't seem like there's much exhaust flow coming though, but it's really hard to check because its y-ed into duals, I can plug one off and it just goes out the other. I'm tempted to just chop them off to see if it helps, but I need to be able to get get the exhaust welded back up asap when I do so I don't have to drive around on open manifolds, I might grab a temp gun and see if there's a huge difference before and after the cats

flowmaster offers two different materials for all of theirs mufflers. Aluminzed steel and 409 stainless. this guy probably got the aluminized steel. they are generally $40-50 cheaper. fruit cake moves though..... why have headers and cams if you can't hear them?

Should've suggested a quality muffler that'll not only keep it fairly quiet but also flow well. Have him try the Aero Turbine XL, those sound really good and don't drone.

Not sure if I believe that was a Flowmaster...... I have a Super 10 that is 12 years old. No rust, what so ever..... I've had nothing but Flowmaster and ever had one rot out. The pipes they've been welded to rot off and leave the muffler skidding down the road. This is my 4 th Flowmaster muffler, and love it. The other went with the trucks they were on.

You don't always "hear a cam" this is a truck cam. Aka torque cam. It keeps a smaller overlap to reduce chop while making power and keep the torque curve down low where trucks need it for pulling. Also you CAN hear this one CLEAR as day because BTR stage 2 still has enough overlap for a little bit of "the chop" You just need to listen a bit better.
