Yeah, Katarin has spent most of this campaign getting wounded in almost every single battle. He didn't understand the supporters mechanic. He turns off the unit cards and uses hot keys.

its so easy to make a doomed campaign with kislev at the moment. I've had to restart kislev twice because things just got completely out of control. There's no good natural geography for you to hold during the mid-game and it so easy for demons and ogres to just walk over you

I lost my first Katarin campaign because while I could barely survive, I wasn't feeling comfortable enough to get to the realm of chaos until the fourth time the rifts opened. Just so many enemies. I had fun though, going to try again with a bit of a different turn 1 strategy and see how it goes. My plan is to destroy the kossar building in kislev, immediately building income and growth buildings there instead, then after destroying the first army, spend my turn 1/2 as Katarin in encampment mode to recruit a full stack of kossars by turn 4. Then go super aggressive with Katarin from there. I think one of the biggest problems I had was just my inability to grow my main cities because I was under so much pressure and there was so much corruption, so if I could just have a slightly better start, maybe I can snowball ahead and just get safer, faster. That's the plan anyway! Going to see if it works!

Its possible to go city by city, while recruiting on the way as some regions take 2 turns to move across, until you end up in Prag with a full stack. You should have defeated the other starting kislev faction that you're at war with by turn 10 or so.

but on the other hand it takes a special amount of effort to make a campaign quite like this. if you go to the link in the description and see how this guy plays, you'll get it. he turns unit cards off. he gets Katarin wounded literally every battle. to call him bad would be missing the point. its the most baffling way of playing total war ive ever seen.

Idk, my second warhammer 3 campaign is Kislev as Katarin, and I cruising through. Turn 10-15, Praag is mine, Kislev rebels down, that dude on the right wanted to confederate, I used his stack to kill off Norscans, Katarin fought Throt, I killed Throt, sold Hell Pit for 6k, joined Cathay wars with Kurhans and some Cathay enemies for 7k, and built my economy well. I put 1 army to protect novchozy choke point, Katatin is taking over vampire and empire, cuz they useless, 1 army fighting rats on the east and colonizing green regions, and my 4th army just smacking demon prince and khorsen. Basically turn 66, 30+ regions, veey stable economy and 1 demon soul. Campaign very hard(same as legendary except 1 save file, because I save before every demon soul battle so I can replay it later).

@@SilverZankarne I had mutiple battles where autoresolve showerd "valiant/close defeat" and when I loaded the battle power balance was in my favour and those were easily decisive or close victories. Autoresolve is drunk AF. I also had situations where I attacked enemy stack and they retreated SO THEY KNEW THEY WILL LOSE but when I caught up to them autoresolve still showed "valiant defeat". Ridiculous.

@@Mythralblade04 They often just die way too fast, they're only really good at dealing with artillery or spellcasters/support units, but infantry murders them, cav also tends to murder them, depending on the ranged unit they either are fine or die horribly (peasant archers, easy win, pink horrors potentially wins but not by too much, exalted pink horrors, dies, jade crossbows, maybe win, maybe die, not too sure. Celestial dragon crossbows, dies, kossars with spears, dies, armored kossars, dies horribly, anything in the Khorne roster aside from chaos furies and maybe chaos warhounds, Leopard dies horribly (actually might be able to beat blood shrine or skullcannon in melee, hard to say for certain though). It does a bit better against some of Slaanesh's stuff, but not by much, does alright against some of Tzeentch's roster, including maybe flamers so long as they don't get shot first. For nurgle, maybe just nurglings and chaos furies, not too sure there. But yeah they only do well in niche situations, they should've been a small group unit, like 6 of them in a unit (rebalance the hp to fit accordingly), would've made them a very good unit, enough hp per entity for healing to be viable, but more entities for higher damage output and less chance of being ganked as hard. So it's just better to bring war bears or winged lancers/gryphon legion, they generally do a lot better against more types of units while being less squishy. Now snow leopards are faster, but since they're not as widely useful, they just won't see as much use. Honestly I'd have loved it if the Ice Witch's got like a snow leopard mount, or snow leopard chariot mount, could've been really cool, would've broken up the monotony of bears, bears, bears. Also are you playing on higher difficulties like very hard, because for me they just didn't seem to do well on those difficulties, and given I mostly play on higher difficulties I just don't make use of them very often. Now granted, I do more often play Skarbrand than Kislev, I've only played Kislev a little bit in comparison to how often I play Skarbrand.

@@darkrite9000 Yea, I play on VH/VH, and they get a ton of mileage. in a field battle you line them up between your first and second lines, and they charge through your units after the enemy hits your first line. In settlements they just run around capturing points and being annoying. You've gotta use them like Ushabti - don't charge them in by themselves, but they have the mass to push through your own units to get to melee. And pushing through your own unit keeps friendly models around them and prevents them from getting surrounded and ganked. They've got the speed and single unit size to quickly reposition along your line to wherever they're needed without the enemy countering, so they're really good at countering Hero charges after the lines have met.

the ai is braindead. it probably detected that it was 1cm out of ordered formation and then turned around to adjust. Only issue is that because of its size it cant make tiny adjustments. annoying as hell. and usually also happens at the worst times possible.

If I had to guess there was a LOT of screw-ups before this disaster battle, which honestly probably would have been cause for a restart for many other people.

You can hear legend get more and more frustrated lol But I dont blame him its happening to me as well. In a game that requires or rewards strategy, skill and micro movements all in small time intervals, its really frustrating when simple but shitty mechanics or programming just fumbles it all up (units not being able to stand where you want them in passable terrain, Ctrl Groups changing unit orders and then locking them. AI bypassing cool downs and summoning units, units forgetting orders, etc). I find myself loving the game but having a shorter tolerance for these small bugs especially by the 3rd installment of the series

No. It's a reskin of the Dread Saurian. Dread Saurians were that bad in TWW2, minus the order input and "shuffling" endemic to TWW3. There is a reason why even Lizardmen players, who love the biggest, stupidest, stompiest stuff, hate it.

Streltis have a lot of ammo, but they usually don't get to use it all, because nothing can hold a front line that long with also having a gap for line of sight, also the firing rate is a little slow, but when they hit, they hit like a truck

I like to put about 3 or 4 streltsi as the frontline, with everything else ice Guard. I find the slowing effect of the ice guard gives time for the streltsi to obliterate enemy units when they get close

CA's has implemented counter spell mechanics. At 14:20 a routing unit tooltip pops up causing two spell casts to fail to trigger. At 14:28 the icon STILL exists, but has moved. Third cast succeeds. Enticity was right. Those tooltip alert icons are still causing havoc. Why command your your army and wield magic when you can just get alert updates that you can click on to see the carnage wrought upon your armies.

If you hold the right click to tell your units to move, you are able to fine tune their direction and spread. You can rotate their formation freely, and either spread the unit out, or make them line up.

He did not have 16 supply lines, those were mostly confederated lords. Kislev lords cost 250 base and go up 10 gold per supply line. Recruiting them at a listed 260 upkeep means exactly 1 supply line bug was active. Its very strange that every AI recruits and disbands like 10 lords, wonder if that's impacting the number of troops they field if they are impacted by the bug.

@KIDAS True, but the same can be said for any Kislev hybrid infantry. Their main purpose regardless of difficulty is still shooting that AP handgun-axes. Imo, they fill their role decently, and even though they're not the most effective Kislev inf, they work good enough while being bloody cool (like, axe-guns. What's not to love there?).

I don't have issues with Vilitch til I confederate Kostaltyn, Valkia's a bitch to deal with though. Every time I play Kislev I inevitably end up getting sorrounded entirely with not even a single turn of peace to focus on any one enemy, it's always being forced to play in the defensive with defunct allies that don't do anything.

How are maps balanced, are they for Large units or regular sized units? i remember a comment you had about walled cities being a detriment and too claustrophobic, but map size does and tower damage does not scale with unit sizes.

TL DR: do not disband the lords which u dont need, send them do die or your economy will get wrecked! The supply chain bug explained based on my campaign using somewhat English ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ After i saw Legend complains about the guy recruiting a lot of lords i head to check my completed campaign and... i had 23 plus 3 witches. But i recruit NONE of the regular lords and only ONE witch. So i got 23 regular lords and 2 witches from confederation. But what about supply chain? I estimate actual value of that using lord upkeep cost which is 250. But the actual cost for me was 320. After basic math i 've got the value of 28% additional payment. But i got only 3 active army on the map! So 20% of my 17k+ summary army cost i paid for the air! But why only 20% more which equivalent of 5 lords? Well that's cuz only those particular 5 lords were present on the map at some point! So that 21 lords that i got from confederation but were in reserve when that did happen does not count for "the bugged" supply chain. Thanks for that i guess... Anyways that bug was the reason why i thought "why is my economic sucks that much so i cannot afford 4d army on 20+ provinces?". Were annoying and not easy to spot. Hope CA will fix that in 1.1.

@@MalacayHooves This. It's a reskin of the Dread Saurian, which, iirc, has better stats across the board. Stats aren't the problem, the thing struggles to hit units right in front of it, is constantly adjusting its position, and consistently loses to SEMs half its price 1v1 despite curb stomping them by mathhammer, because it just can't hit them. The Dread Saurian's saving grace is the Skink howdah on top, meaning even while the Saurian is derping out, the skinky bois are making about the value of a Skink Skirmisher unit. The Feral Dread, and the Elemental Bear don't even have that.

At first I thought the elemental bears would be like the khemrian warsphinx, maybe slower. Agile and hard to stop thanks to jumps, mass and animations because...That's what bears are. But they are so derpy, even the smaller ones. The Dread Saurian comparison is very accurate, Hellpit Abominations are also like that.

select them all then hold alt while you drag. you can also hold control after you drag to rotate the units in-formation

I think streltsi just don't fit the campaign as it is currently designed. They're probably better than kossars against Empire and Dwarves, but the daemon's flat missile and physical resist means they are going to be just as mediocre as kossars damage-wise while having fewer opportunities to shoot due to obstructions.

Streltsi problem is that they are too expensive, a somewhat improved version of empire gun infantary for 2-3 times the upkeep cost is just bad, some things in this game look untested as fuk, some numbers just don't make sense, a modder can fix a lot of the game problems in 2-3 days of work, like wtf.

Legend used them against meh armored army. I don't take them on South-west (Skraag) and North-west (Norsca & Daniel) armies. But against heavy armored armies you need either their or ice ladies armor piercing and you get them earlier and are cheaper in upkeep.

Breath attacks AND artillery all need the ability to just attack the ground. Artillery (some) already has it, but it didn't work properly in TWW2, and not all artillery had it. That snap targetting is so irritating.

Steltzi are good against non demon factions, but compared to Handgunners and Thunderers, they are good.

They are not. Don't get me wrong, they are pretty powerful unit, and it's nice when you have streltsy in a battle, but to actually hire them? They upkeep is way too big, and even against non-demon faction i'd prefer ice guard, because they are easer to use, and their frostbite arrows, combined with Kislev magics turns enemies into snails.
