Volo is a 10/10 card IMO. Arguably one of the cards that looks better in a rainbow foil. The whole situation is pretty messed up, the price of cardboard is insane these days for readily available modern product. I think the anger is misguided though, the person selling the card clearly isn't looking to sell it while the hype is high, they just want other cards from the set

At the end of the day, if you own something, you have the right to do what you want with it. Sell it online because you find it overvalued, buy it because you think it's undervalued, or just buy it because you like it and you're not worried about price. I think it's important that people look out for themselves, first and foremost. I'm not a supporter collector, and I also realize that the some supporters are going for INSANE prices right now that surely (haha?) won't hold up. If I pulled either the Miriam or Dendra SAR, it wouldn't make sense for me to hold it if I don't collect them/need them for completion or sell it for under the going rate. Why do that when I can turn it around and use the money on cards I actually like? I could turn the Dendra SAR into ALL of the cards I actually want from Triplet Beat, the ex SARs AND all of the ARs. So, two things can be true if you're selling: 1. You're perpetuating the current state of the dogshit market, which is bad 2. You're also working with your own best interests in mind, which shouldn't be looked down upon (obviously unless the consequences for doing so has serious negative implications, which I don't really see is the case here) Necessary evil, I guess? That being said, I really like the Miriam artwork so I'd probably keep it if I did pull it, lol.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. I'm a casual collector that's on a budget and mostly gets retail-priced English packs from the money I get as a gift (so for special occasions like Easter). If I was lucky enough to pull that 200$ Giratina or whatever expensive card I would 100% sell it even if I like it simply because that money would help me with my college funds. I don't find it immoral to put my own health and education as a priority, I wouldn't force anyone to buy cards from me so they must have enough funds to afford one anyway. Of course I wish those cards were more affordable for everyone but it is what it is

The way I see it, if you own it, you can sell it for whatever price you want. It is really up to the buyer who decides whether they want to pay for it or not. I know it sucks because I like collecting cards. Some of the ones I want are out my budget range but I get it. They pulled it so they can price it whatever amount they want.

Love your assessment and you're 100% correct when you said the only ones to blame are the ones setting these prices. Moonbreon has proven people are willing to pay $100s for a modern card, and the Japanese sellers/buyers have taken notice and they are creating a new Moonbreon with each set. As with any case, it's about money. Skip the organic market demand and simply create hype using insane base price for a card most people will never pull to move as many boxes as quickly as possible for the highest profit. It's gotta feel like a gold rush for them right now.

It’s unfortunate to see such high prices for booster boxes and I always think it’s awesome that people like Opossum always talks about the real stuff. However I wish we can shift more to HOW to fix this problem. Which I know a lot of KZbinrs do. The resolution is to stop buying the boxes! If no one buys it then the demand as well as the price will plummet. I recently got into specifically Japanese collecting (little before the Japanese hype) and it seems it was probably the worst time for me to get back into it. Unfortunate man

I know I keep saying this, but these price increases are insane. I've been chasing a NM Squirtle Japanese McDonalds Promo card for a year now and I could usually find them for under $65 in that condition, now you can even find a NM for under $145. It's insane to see the hype hit these cards so hard. That why we get this "argument" between the two parties. Both homies are right and became jagaloons so quickly. I don't know man. I sold a Charizard shiny v on Mercari for really cheap. A seller messaged me and asked why I sold it for so cheap. He acted offended that I didn't sell it for $120. Looked on his page and he was selling raw cards for an exaggerated amount, cards I'd never buy over $20. Sad thing is, he sells those crazy expensive cards that aren't worth what he has sold them for.

Spending 130$ on a booster box to more than likely get a SR card worth 6$ just seems crazy. These prices make more sense in English because the boxes are usually mapped for multiple hits. I find the Japanese market very confusing atm but it's also much more exclusive as they rarely reprint Japanese product in comparison to the English counterparts being printed into the ground.

Unfortunately this is just how it is now. I have a card store who used to sell Japanese frequently and I would always grab packs but now they basically can’t afford them and they don’t want to pass the cost to the consumer. English is the way for many of these card stores basically it’s true the Japanese market is completely fucked. Don’t get me started on these whatnot tycoons who know the names of these waifus and not even the rest of the Pokémon.

What aggravates me the most is the over inflated price of new products. This stuff was meant to be accessible at a reasonable retail price, but the market is flush with scalpers looking for a quick buck.

That’s what the problem is, it’s the product. People don’t understand that cards have been expensive for a long time, but if people don’t even get a fair shot is when they get mad 🤷🏽‍♂️

I feel for the Japanese collectors as I was priced out of English Evolving Skies after the Alts started absolutely climbing. Initially wanted a Master Set of ES and it has taken over a YEAR AND A HALF. Tough to find product to open, tough to pull the cards above $10 and even tougher to complete the whole set. Hopefully Japanese product and singles take a dive here soon like English has here recently.
