Oh man. This reminds me of my cat that LOVED sweet bread. He always knew when we brought some home. Cannot leave it on counter for even a moment or it's gone or destroyed. It was always funny to me to see how a normally placid and indifferent cat suddenly becomes so full of drive and determination once he detects sweet bread. Oh Peter, I miss you. RIP Handsome.

I've had two cats in my life. One could not care less about food, and the other (the one I currently have) was a food thief much like Chupie here in her younger years, and would go to any lengths to get at the table, counter, or anywhere food was available. She has gone blind in her old age, so she does not get in much trouble as she used to, but watching this gives me a lot of memories of when I had to protect just about anything. I even once caught her standing at the table, dipping her paw in some ranch dressing that had been spilled before I could wipe it up.
