More than sixty percent of individuals are facing chronic conditions. Our modern world has led to a society that is getting sicker and facing more chronic diseases despite advances in technology and healthcare. Metabolic dysfunction is at the root of these conditions, and the pharmaceutical industry seems to benefit from this continued chaos.
Today, on The Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru, Dr. Casey Means, and Calley Means discuss the crisis our society is facing. They share staggering statistics about our health and give a state of the union on healthcare, lobbyists, research, and pharmaceutical companies. They also share their experience within the industry, leading them to advocate for greater access to information and agency over our health. Learn the basic biomarkers we should all assess and simple ways to improve our mitochondrial and metabolic health, reducing our chances of developing a chronic disease.
Casey Means, MD, is a Stanford-trained physician and co-founder of Levels, a health technology company with the mission of reversing the world’s metabolic health crisis. Her book on metabolic health, Good Energy, comes out in May 2024. She trained in Head and Neck Surgery before leaving traditional medicine to devote her life to tackling the root cause of why Americans are sick.
Calley Means founded TrueMed, a company that enables Americans to buy exercise and healthy food with FSA/HSA dollars. He is also the co-author of Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health.
In this episode, Dhru, Dr. Means, and Calley dive into:
-A State of the Union on our health
-Chronic disease amounting to recurring revenue
-The Big Lie: Beyond our control
-Agency over your health
-Mitochondrial and metabolic dysfunction at the root of chronic disease
-COVID as a metabolic disease
-Dr. Means' journey from traditional medicine to functional medicine
-Trifecta of Bad Energy
-Five core biomarkers
-Ozempic and pharmaceuticals fail to address the root cause
-Ultra-processed foods and addiction
-What peer-reviewed actually means
-The story behind their family’s journey
-Overeating ultra-processed foods and lack of micronutrients

@33:40:00 - the rusty metallic iron filing mining waste and the industrial seed oils that don’t exist in nature, but which are now ubiquitous in the food supply and building up in maternal line epigenetics. Of course!!! The toxic inorganic iron gets in the lysosomes of the macrophages and they then become toxic. I believe this iron in the macrophage lysosomes is oxidizing the LDL… Iron fortification is a massive fraud… like you-know-what. CovFeFe? My name is Christine & I'm a 50-year young perimenipause woman who's in remission from chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was diagnosed at the age of 27 after giving birth to my youngest son. I was on a weekly biologic injectible medication called "Enbrel," with other prescriptions like Celebrex, Methotrexate, Tramadol & Prednisone at times that made my immune system sick and my body obese & weak. I started eating a whole food ketogenic lifestyle in September 2019, and I'm mainly carnivore now. This way of eating is the only thing that has helped my weight loss of 65 lbs, severe pain, inflammation, high blood pressure, anxiety, and other metobolic health conditions. Also, I started implementing lifting heavy weights, strength training & balance exercises 3-4 times a week last April. It has been a new life for me! You can seek your true health every day, starting with what you eat/drink & don't eat/drink. Peace & Health, Christine Peters

Sadly, there are people who think: What I need is a sleeve of Oreos, a bag of Doritos, a Big Mac, a six pack of beer, an ice-cold Coke, to binge watch Netflix for 6 hours. That will satisfy me. That will make me feel good. Their waistlines grow. Their joints ache. Their doctor prescribes another pill. This has become the cycle of life.

A superior predictive/diagnostic model to "germ" theory: “All disease, at some period or other of its course, is more or less a reparative process, not necessarily accompanied with suffering: an effort of nature to remedy a process of poisoning or of decay, which has taken place weeks, months, sometimes years beforehand, unnoticed.” - Florence Nightingale

Casey Means, Calley Means, and dr. Ken Berry saved my life in 2022, with Proper Human Diet. I almost died from taking toxic meds, and eating toxic processed foods😢. Since 2022 i took charge of my own health. It took me 34 years to stop trusting those who were making high profits over my own health. My own mama died, not from cancer, but from toxic meds that couse her the cancer😢. God bless you all 3 of you real doctors that saves a lot of lives including mine🙏🤝🤲🤝🙏 Ps: the biggest question will be: If they poison us for over 60 years with SAD processed toxic foods, What we are going to do about the fake made in lab toxic foods for our next generation?😢. It's allready happening, those toxic lab foods are in store allready😢. How sad is this😢😢😢

I love all this information. It is exactly what I want to be out in the world. But there is one major thing that it doesn't cover. The human element doesn't want to be healthy They want immediate gratification. There are so many people that will spend so much money on a shot of ozempic, but wouldn't even think about hiring a personal trainer instead. This is also true unfortunately.

A cookie jar is immediate gratification. We decide what we put in the cookie jar. Is it going to be store-bought cookies or home-made cookies? This is both figurative and literal. I bake cookies almost every day. They are a great convenience food and I control the ingredients. ❤

Rather than controlling shops, why not control your own homes? Junk food is convenience food. I have eliminated junk food from my kitchen by baking my own cookies. I control the ingredients and since they are the most convenient thing to eat, they get priority over a bag of junk food, which isn't in the home, it's at the store. Women need to get back into the kitchen and get back in control of the food. Home-made cookies is a good start. ❤

Seventh day Adventists started off the high carb , no meat protocol, then some educated “dunce” used anecdotal studies to claim saturated fat is the bad one, then the Cargill food conglomerate used existing ego based paranoia to get as much “ plant based” processed foods ( comfort food)into addictive forms , it’s really difficult to make healthy whole prehistoric( 15000 years or more) foods palatable by over processing . The judicial, medical , psychiatric , insurance, pharmaceutical , rehabilitation systems all rely mostly on the American dietary recommended food pyramid didn’t initially intend on making a really bad choice duped by corn flake peddlers , but now , knowing there’s no endgame to diabetes, it’s willing to keep up the status quo, business is booming!

Anyone else notice how many doctors or going against the old standard protocols? Insurance companies are not allowing them to properly care for their patients. Insurance companies and Medicare are causing them to sometime late se money on some patients unless they accept bonuses for prescribing particular meds? Now they are getting more respect and earring more through properly informing the public and treating patients in a proper manner. Listen to the brave one taking the high road to decipher the studies, follow the money of who is paying for the predetermined study results, making videos and selling books.

Don't buy the crappy pizza from pizza hut, domino's, papa John's or any chain pizza place. Make your own pizza dough at home using einkorn flour or "zero zero" flour, water, extra Virgin olive oil, make your own pizza sauce, buy and use the soft mozerella cheese and not the shredded packet cheese. Same thing with pasta. We use jovial flour pasta, einkorn pasta, we make our own pesto sauce at home etc.. Stop buying condiments, like ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, soy sauce, any bottled sauces, lunch meats, hot dogs, packaged foods like candy, cakes, crackers, cookies, chips, sodas, etc.. Buy fresh fruits and vegetables, buy plain yogurt, plain Greek yogurt, buy unsalted nuts, buy herbs like basil, cilantro, garlic, turmeric, honey, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, cardamom, cinnamon, cummin seeds, cayenne pepper, pepper corns, farro, brown rice, quinoa etc..

Do some research on KZbin about causes of excess gas... There are lots of videos on this... You may figure it out by taking supplements, eliminating things from your diet, etc...

Maybe you are sensitive to Salicylates? Or maybe any other anti-nutrient? Like Lectines or Ocxalates? Try eliminating certain vegetables and fruits and find out whats causing it. Dairy- or glutensensitivity can also be a cause. Good luck!

Orthopedics facilities are sucking the life out of our hospitals. Enormous amount of money in those departments. They are like the movie stars of the medical world, everyone else has to take a back seat. Literally, all the money will go to these departments, crumbs to everyone else.

People without a scientific background and/or without critical thinking skills can be led astray when they do their own research. Doing your own research can mean falling for bots, fake profiles, paid for opinions. So, yes, you can't find a lot of help in conventional spaces and you need to do your own research. Also, learn and apply critical thought to what you're reading or watching. Look for contrary thought at the very least. Question whether the methodology is sufficient. Else, you'll end up very misled in order for grifters to profit off of you.

Is the fact that people are getting older not a (large) part of more chronic diseases than in 1890? Also, how reliable are statistics of more than 100 years ago. Same with wild animals. They don’t live long enough to develop chronic diseases.

How does a double blinded control trial promote medication? The control arm is a PLACEBO which is no medicine at all (in the example given). ONLY when the test arm does better, the drug is the outcome of choice. I'm not saying that the guests of this podcast are wrong in their science but I resent the fact that they are delivering their message with fear mongering, populism and saying no matter what to sell their story.

@@LWin-ps8jp 3rd parties in the past have not won, that does not mean Kennedy won't win. These two options are the least favored candidates who have already had an opportunity to show us what they can do in office and it is completely underwhelming. If people are not sick and tired of of the corruption that is continuing in our government agencies and choose to vote for a clown instead of Kennedy, then our country will continue to devide and crumble.
