If the hole looks like the one he’s playing, I know that I’m screwed before I step up to the ball. A required draw, which is not in my playbook, is needed. A straight ball goes way to the right, ends in trouble. I’d tee off with a 5-iron and keep it in play in the middle In fact, I’ve always wanted to try a round where don’t hit anything bigger than a five iron and simply focus on keeping each shot in play right at the hole. For some reason I really believe I’d score better if I did this
@BloodySoup74
@BloodySoup74 Жыл бұрын
Guaranteed you'll score better. Or how about teeing off with a 5 wood. But anyway I teed off with a 5 iron many times when I can't find my driver. Works a ton and your concentration levels go up on your next shot. If you got a decent short game you'll have no problem 😊

I was taught the first position back was low with the club face square to the target with the shaft pointing to the target You have the club face closed and the shaft pointing to the left. I will say there are many ways to get the club in position at the top, but starting with a closed club face might lead a lot of people to hooks and chunk shots.

It's because he only shows (knowingly or not) like 4/5 of the take-away. This body rotation only move should be coupled with a gradual but small wrist cock. Then the shaft will roll slightly to more neutral and the shaft will be parallel to stance line and ground.

Hey man, so I'm about 260 lbs. Very thick in the chest, mid section and arms. I've always found that in order for me to keep my arms connected to my chest and my hands close to me it seriously limits my range of motion. It does very well for me in chip shots, as I don't need a dynamic or powerful swing. I also play with a neutral to weak grip and so when I am swinging my irons. Anything from 8 iron and up, I have to allow my arms to separate from my body in order to lengthen my swing and pick up speed. Ive been told that I need to watch john rahm, we are similarly built and he is able to generate great power with a short compact swing. Anyway, when I take the club back I roll the club face open (this isn't a problem for me, the closing of the club face just prior to impact is a power generator for me and I have above average hand speedn with powerful wrist and above average timing/hand eye coordination(I grew up the son of a professional boxer) the main problem is the inconsistentcy that comes from disconecting.my arms and body. Do you have any recommendations. I really appreciate any help thank you

It doesn’t matter one bit hope you take the club back. The ONLY thing that matters is that you get the correct position at impact. Forward shaft lean with a relatively square club face depending on which shot shape you’re playing.
@golfslump

@@golfslump of course it has to be somewhat fundamentally sound. My point is that there are many different ways to take the club back and set it for the downswing. Tour players are the evidence for this. It’s an individual thing and no one correct way to do it. All that matters is that you can repeat it consistently to get to impact.

@@golfslump Ok, I get that. I think online instruction is difficult because of this. Everyone is much too different. That may be the simplest way to take it away for some amateurs, but not all. @jonathanh9592
@jonathanh9592 Жыл бұрын
This move is not really debatable, it can be added to pretty much any swing. There are many different takes on what a golf swing should or shouldn’t look like, but any coach will tell you to get the club in this position on the takeaway. Despite how different the golf swings are on the major tours, this first movement going back is very consistent amongst tour pros.
