1:05 (ca) If you steer then brake you'll load the front wheels and the rear will lift up causing it to most likely slide a bit, but youll also encounter understeer if youre not careful, and or understand how the balance of the car can be compromised by this approach. If you break hard, and then ease up on the breaks as you start to turn in youll load the rear tyre on the opposite side of the corner entry and the fronts will lift up causing them to lose a bit of traction, but youll allow the car to sort of throw the front wheels up in the air and then move it around with more ease, because its not pressed down by the car. The latter is faster, the former is slower because you need wider angles to complete a corner. But they cause the tyres less stress. Its why perez is so good at maintaining his tyres. He uses the former, and allows the car to roll over the tyres before he positions the car, instead of forcing the car in by glueing the rears to the ground, and lifting the fronts up to toss it into the correct angle. 2:40 (ca) Your car doesnt turn because to turn in to quick. You dont allow the tyres to properly hook themselves to the ground.

Good food for thought. After your advice about traction control too, 1 full GP (Canada) on Medium and then one full GP(France) without and I got the basics down. took ALOT of time from my laptimes already. This lesson about steering was something I noticed myself but now confirms it. For me it really comes down to knowing about it, then it's so much easier to get a feel for what you're trying to learn.

Wow. I was constantly trying to figure out why the steering was unresponsive in f1 2021 and this is why. I believe it is a matter of not having enough detail in ffb because you can feel the steering drop off very well in gt sport. Nice video

It also has a lot to do with entry speed. People That are steering too much is because the entry speed is wrong and your car won’t turn, so the immediate reaction is to keep steering further, but the car stops turning because there isn’t grip.

You rly learn this in f2 to lead the tyre through a corner not just apply full lock and let the car scrub the tyre and loose time and corner speed if you just apply full lock in f2 you will literally go straight but if you slowly turn and lead the tyre through you will have such a smoother corner and better lap time AND LESS TYRE WEAR

Have you changed the in game audio settings? In wich way? Because for me with the default settings (everything at 10) lockups and the "screaming" of the tyres are very hard to heard (I think they get overwhelmed by the engine sound)

Hi Marcel, habe gerade mein Wheel neu und wollte fragen wie viel Grad du als Maximum eingestellt hast? Auf yt sehe ich oft 360 Grad und die meinen Pros fahren mit 300 oder 280. Mit wie viel Grad fährst du? Und wenn du Zeit hast auch eine kurze Erklärung warum. Sehr geile Videos, feiere deine Art, auch einer der einzigen bei denen Englische videos richtig geil sind. 2020 war ich auf 360, dieses Jahr 310 :) alles Gewohnheit - mehr Grad=mehr drehen (Pro: weniger überlenken und damit weniger lockups etc. Con=man muss mehr lenken) Vice versa bei weniger Grad Drehung :)

Hi Marcel great video, this is the aspect of the wheel that I’ve struggled most with on my transition from controller, take Austria T2 for example and the first 2 chicanes at Monza, especially Austria T2 the car is always walking towards the outside of the track on exit and i don’t know why as i feel like I’m steering pretty well, my wheel rotation is 240 degrees should i up it? Most people have it on 360° (180° on each side so it locks halfway) I think (Jarno has it on 300°) so you can check out a video of Austria or Monza of someone that has 360° angle and just look at their steering wheel in the cockpit to see how much they're turning in
