Bob was an absolute LEGEND. No one worked the crowd like he did. He had a way of roasting the contestants in a way that they never felt bad about themselves. It was all in jest (but a part of him was serious). He was a true genius, a gentleman and incredible talent. He was one of a kind and there will never be another one like him.

4:14, as a clock collector, heres an interesting fact: the manufacturer of that clock, pearl, built and sold pretty nice grandfather clocks, usually with quality german hermle movements. There operation was based in Memphis, TN, they started in 1975 but went out of business in 1988 after a big warehouse fire.

i think you're missing a few major world events there, like the cold war and the rwanda genocides, just to pick two. we've always had wars and horrible things going on, they just weren't as in-your-face before the internet. thankfully, the world is constantly improving and violence is lower (and quality of living higher) than it ever has been, worldwide. onward and upward!
