I think the national weather service is underestimating this storm WAY TO MUCH they are saying cat 2 but there is literally nothing stoping this thing from intensifying up to at least cat 3 or. 4, possibly even a cat 5. The water temps are around 90 right now and there is no wind shear or dust to stop it.

I would suggest you go back and look at Andrew (91) and Camille (69). They were both Cat 5 (I believe) and caused tremendous damage to LA and MS.. I don't know if they had all the data then we have now but it would be an interesting comparison.

I know some people in the path and potential probable path. This thing is a monster, maybe becoming a cat 5. I'm in one of the less probable paths, so I'm not really in the clear either. I really hope it weakens fast upon hitting land.

That hurricane you're thinking of from 1980 is Hurricane Allen, top winds 190mph, but hit Texas as a CAT4.

your hwrf and hmon models were done in knots and not mph, technically a few mph faster than what you said. 96 knots, is roughly 110 and 138 mph respectively for those two models.

HAFS A model is thinking at 205 mph on 12z run on Helene. That is Patricia 2.0 if it is correct.

Almost, but a post-analysis that I found from 2016 showed that Patricia reached 215MPH sustained wind speeds.

It was never mentioned but the way the jet stream is going and the cold front that’s moving through the southern USA it’ll probably go in the direction he showed us. However hurricanes have a tendency to “wobble” in their tracks so anything could happen….
