I dont even play Star Citizen but I always enjoy your videos! I wish more channels would provide fully tuned data like you do. Its the only way to truly know what system works the best. I really like how you provide a repeatable benchmark that anyone in your community can do too.

Damn, the 7700X tuned is crazy good in star citizen. Wonder why no one else does this, I know a few friends who got the 7700X and then "upgraded" to the 7800X3D and are now saying that the performance is getting worse and worse each patch.

I like the video but I'm a bit confused. In the Orison section, your FPS readout in the recording doesn't go above 70 and dips down into the 30s, but the average FPS listed for all CPUs is well above 70 (usually 90-ish). How is the average being calculated? Or was that footage not of the actual test?
@gamedaytoday1
@gamedaytoday1 Жыл бұрын
The footage of the run is recorded at 4K, the benchmark is 1080p. I will do more recordings of my benchmark once I get a capture card so you can see everything in real-time without affecting the performance

Great video, as always. I opted for the Intel platform though. The Team Force sticks in your system list are not available in my region atm. Can you recommend any other sticks? Would you still opt for 7200 CL34 or would be stick marked with higher frequencies (although also higher latency) worth a shot?
@gamedaytoday1
@gamedaytoday1 Жыл бұрын
What region are you in? As long as the sticks are A-die or M-die the frequency does not matter as I still recommend that you should tune them. Once tuned they all perform the same.

@@gamedaytoday1 I live in Switzerland... When you are choosing your sticks to you actually pay attention to the Mhz number? There are sticks now that allegedly XMP to 8000 Mhz which I doubt. But when it comes to RAM tuning I am a total noob. G.Skillz sound good and are in the QVL of the Apex Encore.

These don't seem to be huge differences tbh. The biggest improvements can be gained elsewhere. 1. Get an AMD gpu like the 7900XTX, amd drivers are significantly easier on the cpu and in some games can get 10%+ more fps in cpu limited scenorios. Enable SAM. 2.Move interrupts from the GPU to the last physical core. I use an app called Interrupt affinity policy tool. 3.Disable fTPM and iGPU. 4.Tune Windows itself, too many tweaks to list here. 5.Disable cpu virtualisation.

What is the purpose of interrupt affinity policy tool?
@vyathaen
@vyathaen 9 ай бұрын
@@Achilles_11_ it allows to change the cpu affinity of drivers, so you can assign the gpu to the last physical core ,which will improve both cpu and gpu performance

What exactly is your memory running for the 7700x? Its 6400mhz cl30. But what's the rest of the timings set at? I have a 7700x and would love to squeeze the performance out of mine like you have. My ram is at 6400mhz 30-40-40-96 and I have a 71ns latency vs your 55ns.

Wow i would have bet anything that 3D vcache would have been useful in a game like star citizen (CPU heavy massive streaming open world MMO with FPS/ physics based combat and lots of players). I was planning to do my first SC build when Zen5 8800x3d launched, but i don't want to wait longer than march 2024. Maybe i could do it sooner with regular Zen 5 8 core which should be announced in january. AMD will probably delay the 8800x3d until near the end of 2024 and by then I'll just end up wanting to wait for intel Arrow lake and then the RX 5000 series. I'm trying to time it right to get a good performancr boost and have something that will actually still be good enough to use when SC actually launches. Right now the 4090 is already 1 year old and costs $500 more than it did at launch so that seems awful timing to build

Star Citizen is too big for the 3D vcache. If the 3D vcache was 2X bigger it may have not seen the same issuers. Also due to Star Citizen being CPU heave the clock frequency might not be high enough. It is definitely the sum of the vcache, lower clock and latency which is holding the 7800X3D back in Star Citizen, in Starfield its not as big of a problem, for obvious reasons, it is not as complex as Star Citizen

SC is an unoptimized mess for years now. Sure they implemented some updates but there is a lot to be done. Don't build a system for SC before SQ42 is out at least. At that point vulcan and some optimization should be ready for the PU. You can see that when playing...there is always one core maxed out. Everything we see before all that is just momentary. Btw. what do you mean by SC is too big for the cache?! Seems a little far fetched... if there is a lot of data overflowing the cache ie. ... what should a smaller cache help then? Just saying that drivers and engine are not close to be optimized for this game. And of course it likes frequency when, as I said, the mainthread can't be splitted.

The 7700X is unmatched in value. I have a 7700X CPU that I upgraded to a 7800X3D CPU. Overall the X3D is much faster across all of the many games that I play. I'm going to build a 2nd system with the 7700X though with a Gigabyte B650 motherboard that can push the memory tuning.

You use the wrong GPU because with an AMD 6xxx/7xxx an CPU limit does not matter , you get nearly 100 % more FPS with AFMF Frame Generation , its only important that the input FPS is at least 60 or better 80-90 if you have an 165 hz Display which will be maxed out then with 165 FPS . With AFMF it does not matter if the Game supports Frame Generation , its Driver based , i got it to work even with the 2007 launched Crysis kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5zGhIeqoKd6bMU = 180-350 FPS in 1440p , its basically all packed in one Thread / Core , thats why there is a wide spread , more enemys = lower FPS . AFMF works wiith Vulcan and DXVK even if AMD only says DX11/DX12 , DXVK is no Problem as you can see here , GTA IV with 270-350 FPS in 1440p kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6WagGmihaytZ80 with my 6800XT and 5800X3D

Frame Generation are fake frames, this has nothing to do with benchmarking the performance of a CPU. The tech in itself is Good and necessary for path/ray traced games but it needs massive improvements to solve the annoying artifacts from interpolating the generated frame. The tech needs a better and cleaner machine learning algorithm. Also relying on the tech will just make developers lazy and not optimize their game.

@@gamedaytoday1 Its good for Games in a CPU Limit as well as you can see here , City skylines 1 with 90-110 FPS in 1440p and a 100.000 Citizen City kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5WyZYuilriqb6s AFMF is not meant to push 30 FPS to 60 FPS , its meant to reach the FPS Limit of your monitor = 144 hz ( + ) The only reason why you should have 60-70 FPS before applying Frame Generation is the Latency with 60-70 FPS bosstedt to 120-140 FPS you will barely notice Latency , with such high FPS you wont notice Artifacts unless you use slow motion . Those AI claims from NV = 99% marketing Bullshit . And yes , AFMF can help with RT too , in Quake RTX i can reach 130-160 FPS in 1440 p in Quake 2 RTX kzbin.info/www/bejne/b56XgqF4jL9_js0 even with my 6800 XT . AMD only Claims DX11/DX12 Games but i found out that AFMF works with Viulcan and DXVK as well . RaceRoom = 250-350 FPS kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y36sq6OPnNh4jKs or GTA IV = 370-350 FPS in 1440p kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6WagGmihaytZ80 It may be fake FPS but mostly t still looks smoother than the input FPS before applying FG
