I don't do the ultra-budget stuff as part of my regular flips/builds but upon request I've done some funkiness to get someone a system when they wouldn't otherwise have been able. AMD gpus have regular pinout 4-pin fan headers so several times I've gotten those XFX RX 570/580 cards with bad fans (stock fans on those cards suck) and modded in a pair of AM4 cpu cooler fans. The shroud holds them tight to the heatsink, the wattage draw is low, and they cool better than the stock fans.

When people say "get a dirt-cheap Dell or HP office machine and put a decent graphics card in it", this is the kind of proprietary hell they gloss over. Tales of older hardware, before Christmas a friend of a friend had his office PC fail. Completely standard hardware, realised the PSU had failed, picked up a second hand Corsair PSU from eBay 25 quid. Next problem, his secretary said it was unbelievably slow. She was right, realised the HDD was likely on its way out so put in a Crucial MX500 500GB for 50 quid. Still not brilliant so examined the CPU, discovered it was some unbelievable Pentium garbage. Checked the motherboard GA-H61M-DS2 and found it was 2nd & 3rd gen intel. Looked at my box of old CPUs and found a 3rd gen i5, put that in and the PC was transformed, secretary thinks I am an IT god. Gave them the CPU free so for £75 they are saved being ripped off by another Pentium salesman.
@speedyboishan8713 күн бұрын
Pentium D or whichever Pentium CPU you have is bound to be slow or not upto the standards of today's technology. A faster or much addequate CPU is recommended.

Nice job on this fix. I would try to get the part that would fix the problem - the cheapest. IF that be a OEm or Aftermarket part that would work in place of the OEM. As for the fan issue - had you tried plugging the 3-pin fan adapter on the 4 pin fan header with the adapter - covering the 3 pins from outer most to inner most from both sides of the header?

On old hardware like - spending money for 'form' is wasted. Creative solutions that work keep this equipment going. My one rule was never use adhesive - always use mechanical connections.

As long as the psu has its own fan in the back you don't really need that tiny fan just to replace the original fan that was meant to suck all the hot air inside the psu and blow it out,you can use one of those ol jumper bridges from an old motherboard's clr cmos or something and bridge the fan header. That way the pc won't give any fan error anymore

You should Record the serials, specs and work performed in a database so that you can pull it up at a glance. Chas-Is? Its Chassie, like Cassie. Say it with me in a future video. CHASSIE. Disable the Post alert for fan error. in the bios

Another possibility for your buddies video failure could be a failing HDMI cable on his end. If you have a good spare, toss it in as well.

The way you pronounce chassis is (cha see) not (cha sis). It's probably one of those words you've heard before but not seen it at the time you heard it so you took a valid guess and how to say the word. Thank the English language for things like knife where the K is silent and chassis where the "is" is pronounced as "see". Gotta love English. BTW, not blasting you, just correcting your pronunciation of a terribly spelled word thanks to English.

I still wonder about the 'no video' problem. It may very well be that the adapter you mention was indeed bad, but I thought I might have seen a VGA port on the back of the machine. If so, could it be possible that he was plugging his monitor into the back of that, and that port isn't working? Either way, if that's the case, I'm sure you will hear about it.
@Soj_8914 күн бұрын
You could have just dismissed the error message and stopped it appearing in BIOS, and just seen if everything worked at reasonable temps reliably.

I would like to know if this would work. Should, right?
@Soj_8914 күн бұрын
@@bmanrockwell2174 On Dell systems it totally would work (I've had error codes for similar issues). Haven't personally used HP systems but I'm fairly confident they're similar.

Not how you pronounce chassis… I get a CPU fan error on my desktop every time. The POST sequence runs before the fan can get up to speed, so it thinks it’s not running at all.
