I think it’s cool that you can run into other campers who give you the low down on wild animals in the area! Hope you get to see a bobcat. In AZ the javelinas scavenge under bird feeders. That bird at the end might be a mockingbird - they mimic other birds and rattle off, sometimes during the night.

I really like Elephant Butte, if you get a chance Caballo SP is not far. And, as I commented on an earlier video, I really think you will love Silver City, quirky, arty, and off the beaten path. Not quite as depressing, as you stated, as TorC. Suggest taking the state road from Caballo thru Hatch -- also not to be missed -- to 180 into Silver. Enjoy! Luvya Sadie💜

Actually TorC has revitalized in comparison to what it was 20 years ago. Especially the downtown, hot springs, motels. But I'm sure the pandemic has hurt them. Also the disappearing water in the RG and the lake has hurt their recreation economy, it's really quite sad how it looks now.

Javelins-there were a couple of news reports this year of people and dogs being hurt by them. Most likely a yearly thing. Any time near water and prey, there are predators. I need a night cam for direct viewing. I was a ways away from water. One time in the day a young coyote crossed by me but in the wrong direction of water. I had a couple of nights of a animal visitor growling. I can only imagine a cougar in that area. They must travel pretty far outside of the water zone for food if not enough in the area. I woke this morning to thinking about snakes. I have not seen one yet but I was hissed at in their holes in the winter. Since they can go up vertically, I really need some window shields in the cab when I have the windows open. Also a snake grabber because heavens, how would I get one out if it did happen? Safe journeys.

In Panama, wetlands did breed mosquitoes, which did "spread" disease. It doomed the French effort to build the Panama Canal, by killing so many workers. When American efforts to build the Canal were started, they sprayed petroleum into any puddles and wetlands, which worked to keep bug numbers down, leading to eventual success. Imagine what that did to the ecology---ugh ... Malaria was the disease in question, if memory serves.

It looks as though my plan for fulltime travel is being sidetracked again because my husband can't see it being done and being able to earn a living, insurance, etc. We are considering the option of me traveling alone off and on. Boy did I get a flashback with my family! "That's stupid, dangerous, why???," etc. I heard it good. Give me the right words to say please!
