I think Amrabat was sabotaged more than out and out failed. Bought without a preseason. Played out of position while he was adjusting to a new league. And then dropped altogether without any respect to what he did or didn't do on the pitch. He's the kind of player who needed a run of games and some confidence. And he got neither. Think we will see the best of him again when he goes elsewhere

Exactly. Came to the club unfit and without a preseason. Thrown in at left-back where he struggled. Then barely played in his natural position. He was never given the chance to be a hardworking midfielder who carries the ball and makes progressive passes. He's looked poor in his infrequent appearances but that's hardly a surprise in the circumstances. He's a better player than he's been able to show at United.

The club is badly managed and in recruitment… never understood why for example Ten Hag who arrived at United did not came with Onana who was his keeper at Ajax for free( United paid 40m€ to Inter a year later…) and why paying 60M€ for Mount when we don’t needed him…8 midfielders…and was out of contract a year later… when the club needed for me 2 strikers! The H and D is silent, and the J is pronounced sort of like an English Y (like in yule), so you can probably approximate the pronunciation by saying it as "Yul-man" 🤔 Anyways, he'd be a good signing, I think, but he's still a couple of levels below your Rodries and Rices. He could do a job for us, but at that price, I'm not sure about bringing him in. Would rather spend a bit more and get Manuel Ugate, but that's probably unrealistic.

Exequiel Palacios is an option no one is mentioning. 25 years old and a key cog in the machine that is bayer leverkusen this season. He covers ground all over the pitch and is creative with his passing in the final 3rd too. With xabi alonso staying at leverkusen it might be hard to attract him to united though. Javi Guerra at valencia would be a good young versatile box to box midfielder to get also for squad depth

Good shout for our DM. I signed him last night on FM after scouting for a Casemiro replacement until about 2am I finally settled on Hjulmand and went to bed with 4 hours sleep. With an unlimited budget I thought he was the best profile for us. The only downside based on FM at least is his aerial ability.

Hey Ste, I like Hjulmand too. My only concern is that if we're going with Lisandro Martinez long-term, we need an aerially dominant 6. Despite Casemiro being poor this season, the one reliable thing in his game has been his aerial ability and I don't think we can afford to worsen our aerial strength if he replaces Casemiro in my opinion. When United solves the defensive midfield problem, the team will be massively improved. Casemiro MUST be replaced this summer. That's the very first thing United needs to do. It's that important because every team runs through United's midfield leading to those high number of shots at Onana's goal.

Wouldn't write Casemiro off just yet. He's had a stop-start season plagued with little injury niggles which has no doubt affected his performances. I can still see him doing a job for us next season if he can get a solid pre-season & have his minutes managed, which is normal for a player of his age. That's not to say that we shouldn't sign a quality CDM this Summer, because Amrabat simply hasn't done enough to warrant trying to keep him around. I think the main thing is that we need a quality CDM who is top drawbith with & without the ball! Without Champions League football & due to FFP, we'll probably look to go for a player lower down the list. I think Fulham's Palhinha is worth a look at.

Amadou Onana and this guy would be really good shopping. Onana for those physical games like Brentford and the likes Hjulmand who's no slouch can also do a job and we can then let Casemiro and scott go but i think we'd need to get in at least one English player to meet quotas.

Reservations include; hybrid 6/8. I worry that he'll ultimately be a better 8 than 6. I feel that quite often with hybrids we've had before, they end up filling a different role to the one we hoped. i still think we need 90%+ pass accuracy midfield, at least with that stat we will rarely play risky long pass from the back, we need stabilization in midfield, Mainoo might do it but we cant rely on 18-19yo to do that kinda job. we can't keep looking for pure destroyer, why? because that type of midfield work if we play like mid table team, go 50:50 with half teams from the league, and go defensive against top 4. 2 calm CB + 1 calm MF if we really want to close to the tittle, and ofcourse front who can score and assist. lets see who will we bring in summer, hope Ten Hag remember what type of player he wanted to buy on his first summer.

If this kid is too pricey would also like to look at the kid Aster Vranckx from Wolfsburg. Belgian, 21, kind of in the Axel Witsel mold. Athletic, passes well, gets stuck in, looks above his age, already playing in the Belgian first team. Went on loan to Milan but they had a stacked midfield and he was just too young. Should give him a look would be a good snip. Especially with likely exits from Casemiro, Donny, Amrabat, and possibly Eriksen we are going to need more depth.

Stephen I've seen this player and please don't encourage this signing, it's not what you make it look like, that's another Morgan Schneiderlin. We can produce a player of his caliber from within. This guy is Charlie Savage or James Garner with more game time, he's nothing special. Please he's nowhere like Casemiro, he's not quick or strong and for Mainoo's pace, we need someone with more physical attributes attached to that technical side. Look at how we are easily bullied and over run in midfield, another soft signing won't help in any way There's someone within the academy who fits better what we need for a no.6, and that is Maxi Oyedele. Check him out. He's very press resistant, very physical, quick, holds the ball well in tight areas, and technically gifted.

ETG has his own philosophy and style of play but with Harry, and lindy, can we play that high line? That has been his style but with this current defenders minus Licha n Verane when fit we can't play. How may times have we fielded Licha, Verane, Shaw, and Dalot? We do need a cas replacement , but for me i wouldnt look at it as a solution to closing the hole . That hole isnt caused by casemiro imo . We need defenders who arent afraid to engage oppo at hw . Varane rather than maguire is the biggest culprit for retreating . Maguire at least attempts to stop danger higher . Varane instinctively retreats . Hes a box defender . We also need bruno & co to be much better/stronger with ball . I think this mad transition football we see can work , we are just seeing it out of co ordination . Ppl are frustrated with ETH for not closing the hole with gameday tactics , im glad he isnt . With these players that would mean sitting back more , a step backwards . To change , we have to persist . We close it by being more aggressive from the back & shorter quicker passing ahead . Thats more suited to mount than bruno imo .

You know the problem with Amrabat? Casemirohad it in his first few matches for us. It's normal for a new player to have some inconsistencies in his game, Casemiro had it and with constant game time, he settled well after about 5th game onward. Amrabat has been on the bench for too long and that would only mean his consistency hangs in the air. With Mainoo showing he's a 8, and Casemiro with no energy levels, Amrabat should have been giving more game time to settle.

Casemiro is good enough for a couple of seasons... just needs proper fitness. I still remember watching pre-season, the guy couldn't run or last 90 minutes - United have an issue of pre-season. But obviously needed are understudies... and those can be from the academy. Hannibal and Dan Gore to understudy Casemiro for me. United need a proper defensive wall, Martinez was the best defensive player we've bought in a long time, we need someone who organizes and is aggressive... does not fear clashing or sacrificing his body for a tackle... This season is a result of a torrid pre-season - team needs to be together playing football for 90 minutes (at least 5 full 90 minute matches) and you will see that with a proper pre-season will probably lead to top 5. Running and general fitness is not pre-season. Anyone played football will tell you, running 10km with pace is nothing as playing football for 90 mins is a different cup of tea. So squad should be playing 5-10 games before the team starts new season for momentum at least. And every position should ahve understudies... preferably academy players who are hungry and take on those chances.

His tackle/interception volume is low because he plays for a team that dominates possession and keeps the ball so he doesn't need to defend a lot. Rodri has average defensive numbers also but he's still good defensively. This is why you can't rely on stats to assess a player. You also have to watch them play to make sense of the stats.

I think, and many people will disagree. Mainoo should be in that role. What we really need is someone who can pass the fkin ball. As weird as it sounds, we have 12? 13? Midfielders and only Eriksen can pass. But he can't run. The players I would want, is someone like Turkish player Kokcu from Benfica, Rabiot, Kimmich, (pedri, de Jong impossible to get), barrel prob 120 mln. With the arrival of Mount I'm expecting we will slowly push Bruno out of the team. I'm not saying he deserves or not deserves to play. Having 2 flair players and 0 hold up play players makes us look awful. Also, just for the data sake. I would like to see Casimiro, Eriksen, Mainoo midfield. Just to see what could potential Eriksen type midfielder bring into this Ten Hag setup. Because it is not the same as last year.

Mainoo has shown us that he is more of an 8 than a 6. If we push Mainoo back into the 6, then we don't get the best out of him.

I'd like to suggest another player. Yacine Adli. Only valued at 15 million and has a higher ceiling than Hjulmand. WAAAAAAY better at passing and good defensively. He is the closest we can get to a Rodri for quite cheap too! Check his stats and compare it to Rodri when he was still in La Liga.

No way we’re gonna replace Amrabat, McTominay and Casemiro in one summer. Keep him for another season, but bring another cdm in so we’re not relying on him so much. He’s worth the wages just for his experience around the squad. If we sell Casemiro but keep McTominay then thats not a football decision, it’s for cost-cutting reasons.
