@Sephalia2 ай бұрын
@@serpentinegallery Embarrassing is the right word for it. Either it's unintentional, which is a low enough emotional intelligence or foresight that people take away from their own future enjoyment of watching a reaction, or it's intentional which indicates to me an inability to control their own behavior or have an understanding of other people. Some people never grow past the toddler stage lol.

I can finally tell you that Billie's last S2 scene shot was the end of "The Satan Pit" 🤯 If you rewatch the end sequence both David & Billie are very emotional & struggle to get through it as Billie talks about "dying in battle" before Tennant says "Then it lied" 😭😭 End of an era! Often in movies & TV shows they are filmed out of sequence due to location if some didn't know. This being the case

Stuff of legends
@anthonybernacchi27322 ай бұрын
Because The Satan Pit was at the end of the season, they thought at first they wouldn't be able to afford a big CGI devil. They considered various other things that could be at the bottom of the pit, including a little girl (!), before scraping together the cash for what we saw. I wonder if RTD ever even thought of what Ugo said he would like to have seen, i.e. the Doctor seeing the Devil without the audience seeing it.
@angeluslupus2 ай бұрын
The general view is that Yvonne was able to break the Cyberman control because she walked into the conversion willingly. But you're probably right about her strong will playing a part.
@quintuscrinis2 ай бұрын
She walked into the conversion booth focusing on "doing her duty for Queen and country" so that was the primary thing in her mind from then on - the rest of the cybermen walked in being controlled by the earpieces or just feeling the fear (removed by the emotional inhibitor) so had no significant thoughts to hold on to at the time.
@andrewgwilliam48312 ай бұрын
But she *didn't* walk into conversion willingly. If she'd had a choice, she clearly would've remained as herself. She was faced with an unavoidable fate, and decided to face it on her own terms. Anyway, certain things in the classic era support the idea that someone with strong will can resist full conversion, at least for a while.

That's what you get when you take the time to build a proper relationship. I like Ncuti and Millie, but they rushed everything and their connection felt so weak, they have great chemistry but that's not enough to build a compelling connection. When they said goodbye I was like "well, they barely know each other actually, so...". Not their fault, season was too short and they were apart so many times. But here...I cry everytime.
@sp0ngeb00b72 ай бұрын
I actually adored Millie and Ncuti even though they actually spent quite a bit of time apart for a one season TARDIS Team, I think they just had so much natural chemistry and gen liked each other irl so it carried them onscreen. I’d say the difference is, you’re right, because the Doctor/Rose were together longer, it’s way MORE impactful. I think even one-two episode characters can develop extremely impactful relationships, as important and impactful as multi season relationships, BUT I also suppose that a middling amount of time is both longer and yet not enough.
@susannariera2 ай бұрын
@@sp0ngeb00b7 as I said, I really like Millie and Ncuti, and they have great chemistry. But with such a short season you can't see deeper or develop a good story arc, they went from strangers to BBF in two seconds and then they said goodbye. 🤷🏻♀️

To help protect some of the secrets of the ending, three versions of this episode's script were distributed to the cast and crew. The majority of them got a version that ended with the Doctor and Rose separated by the wall at Torchwood, with a note claiming this was the "End of Episode 13". Only those cast and crew members who would be participating in filming the following scenes, through the Doctor and Rose's farewell at Bad Wolf Bay, received a script with those scenes. The complete script, including the Bride, was distributed to an even more select group (Tennant, Catherine Tate, director Graeme Harper and very few others) who filmed the scene after hours on a closed set. However, Shaun Dingwall (Pete Tyler) was mistakenly given the complete script, and began asking who the Bride was while filming the concluding scenes, leading others to tell him he wasn't supposed to know about that!

Maybe it wasn't as early a reveal as you were spoiled but I'm still sorry that was spoiled for you so early on by someone clearly trying to ruin your journey with the show. She was young and he probably believed that she hadn’t thought it through, but she’s made this choice many times before, knowing she could die with the doctor at any moment, or something could go wrong and she could be separated from her mother anyways. Also, joining the queue of people ready to jump whoever spoiled you. Your reaction broke my heart in the most relatable way. Beautifully honest & insightful. But do remember that with Doctor Who there’s always joy just around the corner! 💜💜➕🌈🟦 P.s., the actress that popped up on the Tardis at the end is played by Catherine Tate, comedy legend, who is another very close friend of David Tennant’s, & who later played Beatrice opposite his Benedick in a hilarious version of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’

Fun fact: The reason why many cybermen scream after being shot by the daleks is because the daleks go out of their way to target the cybermen's emotional inhibitor. That way, the cybermen is not only going to die, but will experience the physical agony of being a cyberman AND electrocution. Daleks are sadistic
