Yes. They say cats don't have feelings but they are mourning as well. When our cat lost her adopted mother (a very old cat that we got from the shelter and who decided to take care of the two youngsters in the house) she would stop eating for 2 days straight until we moved the feeding place away from where the old cat used to eat. She was also visibly sad, similar to the dog in the video.

It's nice but it depends how the owners grieve too. Personally I think it's kinda unhealthy to get a pet as soon as another one dies. It leaves you no time to grieve which for some people is a good thing, for others it's not. It's usually not very good for the new pet either
@FANI-NI
@FANI-NI Жыл бұрын
Sometimes we need to be alone though. And it depends on the owner, Harper isn’t the one who’s going to be taking care of the other dog. I’ve lost a friend and waited a long time before adopting another one. I didn’t even think I’d ever be able to adopt another dog because of how heartbreaking it is when they’re gone. My loved ones tried to get me another dog right away, but I denied it every time until I was ready. It’s not fair to the dog if you know you can’t fully reciprocate their love yet.

My brother passed away suddenly on 21 February 2009 and his dog was crying at his window all the time, pulled out his hair and refused to eat. I sat in my brother's room crying too and I couldn't handle his dog crying and mourning too. I went outside, took his dog, placed him on my lap and told him what happened to my brother. I told him it's okay to be sad, I'm sad too. After I told him, he stopped crying and mourning and he adopted me as his boss. When he was ill and his time was running out, it was as if he saw my brother and he died peacefully. Even our parrot who used to call my brother's name all the time, stopped calling him when he passed. Animals are incredible, they love, they remain loyal and they mourn too each in their own way. No one will ever convince me otherwise.

In 1987 I rescued 2 brothers, Frak was black, Frik was white. They were never separated, even when we had to kennel them for a week while out of the country. In '99 Frik passed in his sleep. Frak barked at him, trying to "wake" him up. Frak had to be hand fed by me for 4 days. Our white cat took up being close to Frak, like she knew Frak was missing Frik. She even would run by his side like Frak had. Frak had a stroke in '03. Vet Emergency gave him Manetol IV push, same treatment is give to humans. He was able to sit up on his own and slurp some water. I got 24 hrs more with him. 1 day and 1 beautiful sunset. I knew he had to be euthanized, so I had called our usual vet for appointment next day. Dr. even came out to our vehicle to administer the shot. He knew my boys always quivered their lower lips when in the clinic. We drove out to the river where Frik had been placed. My wonderful husband knew the exact spot to dig. He uncovered the blue blanket Frik was in. When we got home our white cat wouldn't come into the house for several days. She saw us take Frak out to the vehicle and he never came back. She would only eat and sleep outside for several days. Yes, not only humans greave for the loss of our fur babies, their siblings and friends do as well.😢❤❤

True story. Worked on ladies house. Left at 11:30am and pulled around the corner pulled over. Took my dirty t-shirt off. I noticed an old man and an old Golden Retreiver. Walking and stumbling a little. I watched for about 30 seconds. It was obvious there was something wrong with the old man. I was almost sure I was going to be calling an ambulance for him. The hospital was right down the street. About a half a mile. I pull up to them and the man looks terrible and is or had been crying. I said, Sir are you alright? His voice cracked and then a pause. He said I'm taking my baby for his last walk with me. It like to have killed me. If you would have seen this it would have you too. I would have rather had to call an ambulance for the man. It freaking broke my heqrt.

I am not a vet. This story touched me: “Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.” As they made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told the vet that they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, the vet felt the familiar catch in his throat as Belker‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that the vet wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. They all sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that dogs’ lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.” Startled, they all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned the vet. He had never heard a more comforting explanation. He says that it changed the way he will try and live. “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life - like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay for as long as we do.” 🐾♥️🐾

Just wanted to share that I related to this so much, made me tear up. I used to have a Shitzu named Sugar, and she gave birth to her puppy which we named Day. They were inseparable as Day grew up and were always together, Sugar would take care of her pup and Day was always happy to be around her. But Sugar got a stomach sickness and didnt make it. Day knew her mom wouldnt be with her anymore and grew depressed, she wouldnt eat or drink or even go out for walks. It was hard to see her like that, especially with that sad look in her eyes. But eventually me and my family were able to help Day get back to her usual self and now shes all healthy and happy,. Dogs are always man's best friend and they arent around forever but the way they are always there for us to make us smile is something we should never forget. rest in peace for Charlie and Sugar. My Roxy was 14 years old and we all are depressed. My girls continue looking for Roxy and they are sad. We are currently waiting for her ashes, but I want her back, not her ashes. Your comment made me sad but also helped me. I continue talking about her because I want to get to the point of not crying every time I talk about my Roxy. This is obviously too late but just so you know in the future it is very important that you show your (alive) animals the body of the recently passed one. Oftentimes they'll just assume that they left and might come back one day and sometimes they'll even go searching for them. They're similar to people in the fact that they need that closure and they need a way to understand that they've died. It's like a missing persons case for humans, the family has no idea if they're dead or alive and some spend their wholes lives searching for their loved ones just holding onto that slight glimmer of hope that they're still out there somewhere. It's horrifically sad to see But yeah, if you're in that situation again just show them the body if you're able to. They'll understand soon after they see them that they've passed and it'll help them recover from it easier knowing that they're truely gone and they won't be coming back one day. Sorry if this is really sad to think about (and please don't blame yourself for not knowing) but I just wanted to share that with you and others that'll read this so more people know what can help their other pets recover. ✌️❤️

After the dog died the cat cried every time we took the other dog out for a walk and didn't stop until we came back home. eventually I got hubby a puppy. cat thought this was his present. Funny thing is, the puppy had grown up with a best friend cat, so when he came to our house he loved the cat as well

@@trulysickofit3709 the cat was found by one of hubby's co-workers during the winter. he walked into her garage trying to get away from the cold, and she'd have adopted him but her husband is allergic. so she asked us if we'd like to adopt him. goes without say we said yes, and met them that weekend. prior to being at her home and ours I don't think the poor kitty had ever lived in a house before because he was super afraid of everyone and hid under the couch. dog just stood by his side and gave him time to adjust to his home. What I would do when I fed him was get closer and closer with time, and I'd talk to him so he'd get used to my voice and me. One day I sat on the couch, he came out of hiding and sat on my shoulder

My husband and I had a tabby cat named Caesar and a miniature schnauzer named March. These two traveled around the world together, different countries and play like crazy together. Our cat passed while in Sicily in 2016, he was 16 yrs old and March would go looking for him sad everyday, so we purchased a Maltese and named him February. March began to come around and soon him and February were best friends. March passed in 2020 he was 15. I miss him so much. Him and Caesar are cremated and placed on our entertainment center side by side. There now back in Japan for a second time. Still traveling together ❤

My families dogs were like this they were together for 11 almost 12 years. They loved playing this same way. Merlin would cry if he got too far in front of Slider. They stopped playing when Sliders heart started to fail and Merlin understood what was going on. Merlin knew he was gone as he saw him go in front of him. Merlin has attempted to play with our newest dog but its not the same. He sleeps all day when he isn't going outside. They had a special bond with their name and their personalities. Merlin and mom miss you Slider. Merlin just isn't the same since you've been gone.

Very sad to watch however and something that no human or animal should have to go through.

We lost my childhood labs on the same day, they were brothers from different litters and I’ve missed them so much. We came home and our shepherd wasn’t entirely sure what happened but just tried her best to comfort me. They weren’t together long, my aunt had rescued her a few months prior to give her family’s dog a playmate but passed her to us so we could ease into life without my labs about a month before we put them down, but she knew something was wrong. She did her damn best to fill the hole they left, and while she didn’t replace them, I still love her to death. My grandparents took her when they moved out, but I was absolutely “her person”. From the night she came home and I accidentally woke her up, and then sat with her as she fell back to sleep, making sure she knew she was safe, to her getting in my bed with one of my labs the week after when I was sick. I don’t think she knew why I was so broken that day, but it was nice to have her there. And I hope my labs are happy wherever they are. Give your dogs a hug, you both need it.

Dogs are blessings. After my grandfather past we took his dog in and she was ours, so we decided to get her a friend so she wasn’t alone. These two were the bestest of friends, a little dachshund and an old cattle dog/GS. When the old girl passed away, the little one knew. Would non stop crying every night and day realising her friend was gone. It honestly changed her and now she’s so clingy she can’t be left alone for too long without being too anxious.
