10:30 Some of those license plates are New Testament references. For example EPHE432 is Ephesians 4:32 - " Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Another one is COR11613. This one is Corinthians 16:13 - "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong." And another MATT1128. Matthew 11:28 - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

All the clocks in the game stuck at 9:10:15 is probably Mary's time of death. This theory was also speculated at the time of OG SH2 because the clock puzzle was the only puzzle in the game that wasn't affected by riddle difficulty.

So I've seen people saying it's not 1993 because of calendars, I think this is because the first game was in 1983. Forgive me for a long story theory rant, but once Harry went to Silent Hill in the events of SH1 and Cheryl was reunited with Alessa, I think that's what caused the entire town of Silent Hill to become completely desolate and empty. Since we know for a fact the first game is in the 80s, this could be 10 years later and the receipt shows how long the town has been abandoned. Good spot! I'm wondering how many other tiny details are in the game like this one

But your theory only reinforces the idea that the date on the receipt is correct. It's really a very interesting topic and, of course, the fan theories about the exact year Silent Hill 2 supposedly takes place in are very interesting as well.

There’s a calendar in that section showing November 1983, so at least we have a year. In Born from a Wish, there was also another calendar at the time, showing just a generic November without the year.

Cash registers from then don’t update the date automatically. The cash register would spit out the date of whenever it was last updated. It could be 20 years old for all we know. It’s not I’m sure, but it’s not proof of any date.

I think you're wrong for the date the game takes place on. Go to the repair vehicle shop next to the motel, right after you meet with Maria for the first time. There is a calendar next to the green SUV, it says November 1983. Also, if you look at all the cars, they look from the 80s.

@@monkeymenso Yes, I am familiar with the calendar theory. However, the biggest argument against it is the fact that Silent Hill has existed for much longer. Calendars can stop being updated at some point for any reason. A cash register, on the other hand, automatically prints the current date on the receipt, and this can happen even in an empty town. That’s why I wouldn’t rely on the calendars. The remake is current, and the developers knew exactly what date they were putting on the receipt. Additionally, cars from the 70s and 80s were still very common in the 90s, and there wasn’t a noticeable jump between the 10-15 years.

Yeah the theory is, that the events in SH1 happened in 1983. And the events in SH2, happened in 1993, a whole ten years later. Meaning that the calendars being that date makes sense! Since the town has been abandoned all that time.

Nice clickbait and otherwise fantastic video, but the ORIGINAL game takes place in the early 80's. And in the remake there are a few calenders in places that say NOV 83. This 1993 date must mean something to the developers or they just missed this detail.

The reason the calendars are still the same date, is because the town is still abandoned. And SH2 takes place ten years later. So 1993 makes perfect sense.
