Having lived in Germany and Austria, they don’t really cheat. They will tell you! They don’t have the concept of 🤘🏻. To be cheated on is to find about something you had no idea, it is disappointing and hurtful! Germans / Austrians are too straightforward to deal with that kind of drama!

These numbers are undoubtly higher in younger generations. And they will get even higher for sure. I can not count how many times i have seen/heard young folks happily admitting to cheating either in front of the camera or in front of a group of friends/family and me being the only one with a disapproving look on my face.

Also if that was true the real numbers of cheating is lower than given since looking at divorce statistics is probably where you find the highest percentage of cheaters. B: According to these "studies" many of the lowest cheating countries are also western. Like Ireland, Iceland, Netherlands, New Zealand etc. so saying the western world is fked is also pure bogus. I am French but grew up in South of France and it's similar than Paris, maybe just a little more secretive. I work in Paris and in every new company you learn than these and those colleagues sleep together although they're married. My friends in the South said it's the same thing. And as a child in the South almost all my friends parents got divorced because of cheating. Most times from men but there were also many women. And in France the close family or friends often know what's going on because the cheater is talking about it, complaining about his situation and enjoying it and making excuse for it and looking for validation. How many new friendships did I have to stop because of that. I don't want to be near any of that unnecessary drama. And for people who say it's a new generation thing.... It's not. We just have to look at all our past presidents, ministers and their double or triple lifes. It's just that young people will divorce more easily nowdays if they think they found a replacement when back in the day they will create 2 separate families since for their social status and church it was seen as a bad thing. But now nobody goes to church and socially nobody care if you divorce plus women are more independent so they can also choose to leave when they could not do that before.

If a divorce takes a long time, it's only the two parties fault and the bureaucracy of the legal system. Though, it is true that the Catholic Church follows the idea of "Once married, forever married" (as it is a vow before God). There are certain occasions where a marriage can be annuled but it's quite rare and analysed case-by-case.

Comes down to value. If a man is providing a good lifestyle for the wife she's going to look the other way. But since most women bring very little income to the family they'll get dumped for cheating. In the few relationships where the female brings in the income the standard flips. Has nothing to do with "traditions" or "patriarchy". Marriage and living together is primarily an economic arrangement. We see exactly the same dynamic in business where there's two partners and one brings in most of the income the other partner will forgive the high earning partner perceived slights. Same in musical bands where every member is equal but all knows who's bringing in 99% of income.

She is right about Ukrainians though. My Ukrainian friends were very choosy when it came to choosing their wives. The reason was that they wanted to find that one Ukrainian girl whom they could trust with their eyes closed and who wouldn't try to sleep with other men. This is because cheating is extremely common in Ukraine. You may not like but this is the truth. Though, the society has many people who wouldn't cheat and who prefer old style family and relationships. So it's not that everyone cheats, but a bigger percentage cheats.
