The French knot is one stitch I've never been able to do to my satisfaction. I've been avoiding patterns that call for many knots as I felt my knots were so bad that it made the whole finished design look like it was my first try. I will try your grid technique until I finally get it right. Thank you!

I love all of your works and the daintiness of all the little details in your projects ❤️ Thank you for making this helpful video about french knots. One question i have is that, how do we get the french knot to look more like a rose (which i have observed in your other videos). Is it the same exact technique as you demonstrated here? Thank you and keep up the wonderful work! 🌞

Thank you for your sweet message! Yes it is the same technique to make it look like a flower. To make the effect more obvious that it is a flower we usually use more strands and less loops. For example if you watch the video of Saint Germain backyard, I use 6 strands and 1 to 2 loops max, the effect works perfectly :) Hope that helps, Best, Charles

Thanks for thus video. Would it be possible to have a small project where you show a shading effect with the french knot (like the eye of your video)?

Thanks for the input! We are definitely considering to make a little project trial - perhaps not the eye to begin with as it's quite time consuming and many different elements to take into consideration, but we want to develop a follow up for how to start implementing it in designs and maybe a smaller project to try!

Thanks. I think I'm doing it as you say. My French knots look fine initially but after moving on to work on other parts I notice I often have one loose thread which peels off and flips over to either stand vertically above the main not or horizontally out to the side. Any ideas please?
@CharlesElin
@CharlesElin Жыл бұрын
Hello Paul! Thanks for your comment, do you make sure to hold tight the thread until the end of the knot?
@pwelford968
@pwelford968 Жыл бұрын
@@CharlesElin I think so although it can be hard to do it all the way through consistently. Are you saying a little less tension part way through can do it, even if you have reasonable tension at the end?
