I watched the movie. Yes he lied, but he did not con these people. He did not ask for money, sacrifices etc ...there was no personal gratification. Yes when they found out the truth they may have the feeling of betrayal...but in this adventure he found a part of himself and they discovered that what they are looking for is what is deep inside themselves and they do not need a guru....

Create peak experiences and some people will follow you. I have serious emotional dysregulation so I get peak experiences like intense euphoria quite often, I can see how if you hadn't had it before you would think it was divine and not a sign something in your brain got flooded because a dam was opened (or, in my case, was never built to begin with) It sounds fun but without the dam the intense lows come too, and that's when you're most vulnerable because you won't trust your Self

Everything is made up in our imagination first before it becomes concrete, the kingdom of heaven is within, so they were connecting with themselves and the christ within, in this way, thats how you could explain it because christ is in our hearts since the crucifixion, i follow Anthroposophy which is christian esoteric science founded by Rudolf Steiner who was a mystic and clairvoyant, this explains the spiritual hierachies and much more, most know nothing about spirituality in the cosmic story sense! ❤
