Love how nuanced the character writing is in this show. A lesser one would've had Bodie in a straight antagonist/villain role after he kills Wallace in season 1. Instead we continue to understand and appreciate him in spite of that, and so when his own death comes it feels just as tragic.

Getting everyone to care about Bodie after what he did is pretty incredible writing!

What a brilliant season, maybe the best. There’s so much amazing stuff that happens even in this episode alone. My favourite scene is McNulty and Bodie having that conversation on the bench. You can tell Bodie has had enough of this game , and it’s heartbreaking when he says “I Feel Old”, even though he’s no older than 20. The “pawns” call back to that first chess game is fantastic , and what’s chilling to think about is everyone who was sitting at that chess game is all dead now …all just pawns.

Didn’t even think about how they’re all dead now! That convo was great!

True. D was writing all their epitaphs when he said the pawns are the first to go -- they are out of the game quick. None of them made it past 25!

@@noahzynskito add to the chess theme, go back to how Bodie dies. He's a pawn, they typically don't move too much. Chris comes in straight, like a rook. Snoop comes in zigzag behind cars like a bishop. And the one who kills Bodie comes out from behind in an alley, turning 90 degrees, a L move like a knight's.

Whew, what a season. Poor Randy, he seemed to've had the most stable life and potential with his business skills and he gets swallowed by the foster system. Naymond gets to live the life D wanted, remember how D was forced to live that life because his family was about that life, same with Naymond. I always admire how damn near everyone who didn't like Bodie because of Wallace ended up at least appreciating him and were a little sad at his death. Carver and Prez probably experienced the most growth when it comes to our original cops, and I'm here for it. They both looked at the citizens as there's a separation between cops and bangers but they both got to really see what it was like for the kids so they can understand them as adults.

I think most Wire fans never had a big problem with Bodie killing Wallace. It's hard to watch, definitely, and it makes you feel sad that he had to go like that, but "the game is the game." Wallace may have been young, but he knew snitching was not the play. He, in essence, brought his death upon himself. I never felt a type of way about Bodie behind that because he was just playing the game; he didn't prey upon poor innocent Wallace or plot his death behind his back (a la Stringer and D) -- his shock when he did shoot and his inability to finish Wallace is evidence of his reluctance. They -- Bodie, Poot, and Wallace -- were all caught up in a game that swallowed the pawns.

Hands down, the Best Season of the Wire, without Stringer, Avon, and not much of McNulty either, sometimes all you need is a fantastic story & script to make GREAT Television💯

This season is such an emotional ride, especially in the final episodes. These kids, man. The unfairness of their circumstances and where those circumstances ultimately take them is difficult to accept, especially Randy and Dukie. Bubbs has a difficult journey all season that gets so bad he hits rock bottom at the end.

Chris told Michael that he can look anybody in the eye now. Throughout the season (more noticeable on a rewatch) Michael does always tend to keep his head down when talking to men--we now understand he understandably has a distrust of adult men and possibly some sort of shame. One exception was toward the beginning when Marlo was giving out money, Micheal refused it, Marlo asked if he was too much of a bitch to take it and Micheal then looked up at Marlo in the eyes. It was then that Marlo took an interest in him as a potential soldier

You are a Corny coward hiding behind a computer. Soft and weak, don't ever go to a black neighborhood at night you might 🤬 your pants. I tried to get through one of your episodes. But you are terrible at it. Leave the Ghetto series alone your too timid and sensitive.
