Games like Alien:Isolation, Terminator:Resistance and Robocop Rogue City are examples of why I feel a lot more passion goes into games based on existing franchises, as opposed to new movie entries. At least, in recent years. I hope this is as good as them

I was 6 years old in '81. Indiana Jones has always been one of my favourites. I don't even like stealth games, and after Fallout 76 and Starfield, I said I would never pre-order another game. And here we are... I'm looking at a Steam page with another Bethesda production luring me to sacrifice my dignity and cave in at the first sniff of temptation.

The thing I always loved about Indy was that he was an underdog and wasn’t perfect. He was making it up as he went along and was incredibly lucky and resourceful given his extreme intelligence. I hope that is conveyed in the game.

No Sir. Saying that you would have just cut the companies revenue in half. It's the reason why Rockstar added first person to RDR2 and GTA 5 - The Fans wanted it and that caused them to make Way more Money! It also helps the longevity of the game because it's so immersive. Best thing any dev can do is to always offer Both modes and let the player choose.

No other franchise, no other character resonates with me more on an emotionally deeper level than Indy!! I live the character (professionally Cosplaying him for a movie theater I work for.) I love the entire franchise (yes including Dial of Destiny). Emperor's Tomb (released in 2003) is my favorite video game of all time!! I saw this trailer for The Great Circle and I cried. It was a big bright spot in a rather dark year for me. I'm going to get the Collector's Editon.

Personally, I consider the greatest game to be Infernal Machine - tonally, it felt spot on to me. After the absolute disaster of DoD - and there's no mistaking that, it was a disaster creatively AND commercially - I really hope this game can recapture some of the love I always felt for the character. Skull was not great, but it didn't actively harm the character the way that DoD did. If Bethesda can wipe away even part of the stain that Mangold and Kennedy have left, I'm all for it.

I'll ignore half your message and second the love for Infernal Machine. The gameplay and graphics of Emperor's Tomb were better, but the level design and level variety in Infernal Machine is second to none.

Immersion is just fine without VR. Reason why a lot of devs don't do it is because VR is still a fad. The equipment is expensive and out of reach for most players. If it gets Mod support the modders might do it.

This will be a great game no Doubt, let's hope it convinces Disney/Lucusfilm to keep the Franchise alive, and make along more adventures. Your defence of the game at the beginning is absolutley right, I am also a Bond fan and with the talk of a new Bond i'm very excited, why not the same for Indy? I understand loyalty to Ford, but at the same time Bond has reached 60 years with 25 films and countless pieces of media over those 6 decades. That could also be the Indy franchise. I wish Disney would stop acting like Indiana Jones is boring when there so many people who grew up on these films and are inspired by them. I for one became a historian and archaeologist because of Indiana and I know many people who can relate. Thank you for keeping Indy in the Spotlight Kevin, keep up the great work. -Park

I won’t watch the new one, and I never much liked Temple of Doom, so a fan of both is libel to label me with glee “not a fan!” It’s rather childish, and quickly turns into new fans insulting old fans for not liking the new products. I appreciate your enthusiasm and caution you to not trust the companies that are selling franchise products, because as Star Wars Outlaws just proved, they will abuse your trust. I hope people will buy a game IF it’s good, and not simply because it’s related to something that once was good.

I appreciate the comments around Lucasfilm missteps in managing the brand for future generations. Harrison Ford will forever be the OG, but I would not have minded a recast for the sake of the brand to live on. In fact I loved Young Indy but I get why its education focused direction didn’t land with the mainstream audience. I hope this game refreshes the franchise and I hope someone passionate and creative comes up with a new live action Indy project… perhaps a reimagined Young Indiana Jones series with a closer vibe to the films.

@anaximander66 love the enthusiasm but im not sure where your information is coming from. As far as I know she is not playable. She's a major character but im not sure that she will be on screen as much as you suggest. Many times indy will be alone and there will be other npc allies accompanying him at different points. We will see.

Quick thoughts about the 1st person: Initially I didn't like it either (and I would still prefer if we could switch between the 1st and the 3rd person), but then I realised what makes that 1st person special: with the 3rd person in the previous games, you could play as Indiana Jones, but with the 1st person here, you can actually be Indiana Jones, just like how you were imagining it as a kid.

The problem with Potential recasting the role is that Indy is NOT like James Bond, who never ages and is the flawless hero all the time. He is a Professor and an Adventurer, not the best shooter who is invincible. It would not make sense, Indy aged like a normal person. It would break the spirit and the magic of the character

Indeed that's a snafu. I MUCH prefer 3rd person too. 1st person causes me motion sickness, which is NOT awesome when combined with my favourite franchise. Emperor's Tomb was brilliant! So was the level design and variety of Infernal Machine.

I'm a huge indy fan but they fucking better not start making a Indiana Jones movie every year or so. They can't even get it right every 10 years or so! Star wars is different because there is such a vast world with countless characters you could rape the franchise with..and they do! But Indy just wouldn't work like that and doesn't deserve to be a generic offering.

Roger Moore is a terrible example for your live action Indy replacement theory. He was an AWFUL Bond and completely diminished the seriousness of the character. I do not think that attempting to replace Ford in films anytime in the near future would be a great strategy. Replication such as within the video game or animation world makes much more sense. We will all see how well this new game does in the zeitgeist and go from there.

It will be delayed until mid 2025, to much focus on other Lucas Film / Lucas film Games at the moment as all of there recent projects have been a massive failure from the Acolytes, Indiana Jones 5 to Star Wars Outlaws not selling, Bethesda, MachineGames and Lucas can’t afford this to be a failure , or they will end up like Ubisoft 😂

I highly recommend waiting for the release and TRUSTED reviews and doing some research. I fear that almost no franchise has any chance of being good these days, and there’s no better example than Indy. This game may take a shot at the same sort of tedious “dynamic” that was featured in the last movie. A young woman who is his “equal” will taunt and talk down to him in ways that would be unacceptable if the roles were revealed, and all for clumsy modern political points. Sad enough to have a disappointing game, but much worse to pay for it and support it.
