He had a bullwhip, a gun and a hat, he is a modern day Everyman who did what he had to do to succeed and what ever adventure opened its door to him. Did he fail? Yes. Did he get hurt? Yes. Personally, I consider the greatest game to be Infernal Machine - tonally, it felt spot on to me. After the absolute disaster of DoD - and there's no mistaking that, it was a disaster creatively AND commercially - I really hope this game can recapture some of the love I always felt for the character. Skull was not great, but it didn't actively harm the character the way that DoD did. If Bethesda can wipe away even part of the stain that Mangold and Kennedy have left, I'm all for it.

I have no problem with the game being in first person. The three previous games were in third person so why not try something new.

I'm very excited for the upcoming Machine Games release. As a long time fan, who saw the Raiders of the Lost Ark film in the theater back in the day. Let's face it, those last two films, The Crystal Turd and the Dial of DooDoo haven't helped the brand at all

That should give you pause about what this product will be like. They hope you will continue to pay them, no matter how disappointed you are in their products. That way they don’t have to learn or improve. I’m fresh out of trust for Disney Lucasfilm.

Quick thoughts about the 1st person: Initially I didn't like it either (and I would still prefer if we could switch between the 1st and the 3rd person), but then I realised what makes that 1st person special: with the 3rd person in the previous games, you could play as Indiana Jones, but with the 1st person here, you can actually be Indiana Jones, just like how you were imagining it as a kid.

Spider-Man makes me feel just like spider-man, same with the Arkham games I feel just like Batman. Don’t know the reason for making it 1st person but damn I was initially really excited

@@smeteyeify I tend to agree, but wondered what qualifies in your mind. I’ve loved Indy all my long life, and think it’s absurd when people equate blind brand loyalty with degree of fandom. I won’t watch the new one, and I never much liked Temple of Doom, so a fan of both is libel to label me with glee “not a fan!” It’s rather childish, and quickly turns into new fans insulting old fans for not liking the new products. I appreciate your enthusiasm and caution you to not trust the companies that are selling franchise products, because as Star Wars Outlaws just proved, they will abuse your trust. I hope people will buy a game IF it’s good, and not simply because it’s related to something that once was good.

The problem with Potential recasting the role is that Indy is NOT like James Bond, who never ages and is the flawless hero all the time. He is a Professor and an Adventurer, not the best shooter who is invincible. It would not make sense, Indy aged like a normal person. It would break the spirit and the magic of the character

I appreciate the comments around Lucasfilm missteps in managing the brand for future generations. Harrison Ford will forever be the OG, but I would not have minded a recast for the sake of the brand to live on. In fact I loved Young Indy but I get why its education focused direction didn’t land with the mainstream audience. I hope this game refreshes the franchise and I hope someone passionate and creative comes up with a new live action Indy project… perhaps a reimagined Young Indiana Jones series with a closer vibe to the films.

Should of been 3rd person. I’ve never played a first person game that had good brawling mechanics but regardless I hope this does well enough so we don’t have to wait another 20 years for a Indiana Jones game that isn’t some silly lego game. Maybe the next one could be more like Emperors Tomb.

@Indiana jones Nerd. You say that there are still locations to reveal? I desperately want one of those to be related to norse Mythology or celtic!!! You know? Being the 3rd reich the main antagonist in the movies (and other material) is weird that Lucasarts never made a game around such myths.

I'm a huge indy fan but they fucking better not start making a Indiana Jones movie every year or so. They can't even get it right every 10 years or so! Star wars is different because there is such a vast world with countless characters you could rape the franchise with..and they do! But Indy just wouldn't work like that and doesn't deserve to be a generic offering.

I highly recommend waiting for the release and TRUSTED reviews and doing some research. I fear that almost no franchise has any chance of being good these days, and there’s no better example than Indy. This game may take a shot at the same sort of tedious “dynamic” that was featured in the last movie. A young woman who is his “equal” will taunt and talk down to him in ways that would be unacceptable if the roles were revealed, and all for clumsy modern political points. Sad enough to have a disappointing game, but much worse to pay for it and support it.
