Alex, I know you love valheim and you want to use it as a benchmark. But you've shown the FPS time and time again to be very dependent on where you are in the game. Please make a standard house or something you will always use. I can't compare the results of valheim on this laptop to any other laptop you've shown valheim on.

This isn't really a gaming performance review, so you would need to find a seperate video/written review that covers the part selection you are looking for. These numbers don't really mean much if they aren't taken from an average of few runs in the same environment(both in game and with controlled room temp)

@@JasperSchwinghammer Yes, and no. It’s kinda cool to see the content, but the “review” is going to come off as disingenuous if you already know that someone else is pulling the strings behind the scenes. He’s not going to review laptops nearly as much because of this. In fact, there’s barely anything about laptops because there’s just too much on his plate. Cable testing, LTX (Hopefully), Behind the scenes projects, and multiple channels just make the laptop reviews not a huge priority. If you want independent laptop reviews, Jarrod’s Tech is a good starting point because there’s plenty of other creators besides LMG that are more than capable of filling the role.

I got the Legion 7 (AMD version) about two weeks ago. Came with the Ryzen 9 5900HX, 165w 3080, 32GB RAM, and 2x 1TB SSDs. I have several thoughts myself for the few people that care (and the Lenovo marketing team that will likely be watching this video/monitoring the comments). Pros: o The 165w 3080 is a beast. I have a Ryzen 9 5900X, 3080 FTW3, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, 1x 1TB PCIe 3.0 and 1x 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs running off two monitors at home. It's literally about as good as you can get for a homebuilt system short of water-cooling the entire thing. (AIO on CPU, but air-cooled GPU). And... This laptop is about 90% of the way there compared to my desktop. Sure my desktop is definitely better and has two resource-heavy monitors hooked up to it (24" 360hz 1080p and 34" 120hz 1440p ultrawide), but the laptop's screen is no slouch. The gaming is incredibly smooth and I play at almost the same settings on my laptop as I do my desktop with only slightly worse FPS. I've jokingly considered selling my desktop because I could get a bunch of desk space back as well as several grand. This thing is a beast. o The screen is not as bright or as pretty as the latest MBPs, but it still looks fantastic and is bright enough that I can clearly see what I'm doing outside. o The size is great. It's basically a 16" gaming laptop in a 15" Thinkbook size. This is great if you want to slip it into the laptop socket pocket of your schoolbag (like I do) as it fits snug, but not tight. It's definitely not as slim as Macbooks or Ultrabooks, but it's also not nearly as clunky as previous gaming laptops I've owned. The 16" screen is awesome for productivity, and even though it throws me off a little when I game with 16:10, the productivity benefits over 16:9 are huge. I didn't think a ration change as small as this and an extra inch of screenspace would make as big of a difference as it did, but I no longer feel like I'm cramming when I have two browsers open to study/write. o The FN+Q and FN+R hotkeys for turning the system into Quiet/Auto/Performance modes and from 165hz to 60hz are incredibly useful. I'm a student that works a meaningless work-study job and spend 99% of my time watching KZbin and playing games whilst at work. At school, I can switch it to Quiet mode & 60hz and get 7ish hours of life out of the battery at 75% brightness. When I go to work, I just have to press 3 buttons and plug in the beefy charger and now I have a top-of-the-line gaming machine. o The charging brick is great. It's absolutely massive, yes, but Lenovo made it to the same height as the laptop chassis with the screen up. So whilst it still takes up a lot of space, it doesn't look as awful as the 3" tall monsters I used to have with ASUS and MSI. The fact that it's 300w is obviously great and of course, you can always just use a GAN charger + USB cable to charge it. The Legion 7i has Thunderbolt 4, so you will do a lot better with the cable, but the AMD version is no slouch and still charges relatively fast without Thunderbolt 4. Cons: o Corsair iCue is even worse than you realize and will literally delete your battery life in half the time EVEN IF YOU TURN ALL RGB OFF. Seriously, it's hilariously bad and I'm not sure if it's Corsair's software or Lenovo's hardware integration (likely a little of both), but it's a hilariously bad flaw. Those 7 hours I was talking about earlier? Use the exact same settings with the RGB OFF, but iCue still installed, and I was getting about 2 hours. It's completely unacceptable. I know there are some fixes you can do out there, but I just elected to remove it from the system as a whole. The stock RGB settings with it gone are still more than enough for me. o The USB-A ports all being on the back make having a mouse/keyboard receiver a pain in the butt. Bluetooth works as well, but the Logitech receiver for my mouse is consistently getting caught on the inside of my backpack. I like the fact that there are 2 USB-Cs on the sides of the laptop, but most mouse/keyboard accessories today still use USB-A, so hopefully, they can put at least one of them on the sides for the next iteration. _______________________________________ If anyone actually wants to know more, feel free to ask!

@@ashmaterial I haven't used the new MPB M1Xs, but all Apple products generally hold their value far better than similarly priced competition. So if you're planning on selling it at some point and you won't be limited by MBP software, then I say go for it. In saying that, the hinges on these are top notch and I don't see them failing from normal use.

I just bought this laptop a few weeks ago with the RTX3080, stacked some discounts that I had and was able to get it fully equipped for just over 2k. It's been absolutely worth it, such high quality machine, but the battery life is the worst on it if the gpu is being utilized, however in non-gpu mode you can definitely squeak out about 5 hours or more from it.

You mean the one that can most likely be changed to remain pure white or match the current power mode? I actually have the Legion with the Ryzen 5800H and 3060 with no RGB, and I gotta say even as someone who would not like a flashy gamer laptop I would like a small strip that lit up when my backlight was on, or as I said - matched the blue/white/red on my power button for quiet/auto/high P mode respectively.

One big thing to note about Lenovo is the thermals: after a year of 6 months the fans starting to be clogged up. So don't mind about warranty, just dismount the backplate and clean it yourself. I have the Lenovo Legion Y540 (i7 / 2080Ti) and I needed to re-apply the thermal paste after one year as I was cleaning the fans from dust and nastyness..

I bought this Legion 7i with RTX 3080 16 Go and 32 Go RAM. Runs very well Flight Simulator on Ultra settings at 30/40 fps. If you lower down to. High settings, you will not lose much in quality but will achieve between 60 -80 fps. I limited the fps not to have a too hot CPU (85 degrees). Really pleased with this Legion. One negative point. Very difficult to open to install a second SSD

Heavy to carry around still (especially with the charger) but holy hell u get a lot for the money. Got it for ~1500€ on sale and I can hook it up to my external 1440p screen and play Metro Exodus on max settings with ray tracing with ~90 FPS pretty stable. (With DLSS set to balance). P.s. KEYBOARD FEELS AMAZING Downsides: battery life (5-6 hours at best if u DONT forget to turn off the NVIDIA drivers, which u will always do.) and very heavy to carry

These are almost the same prices, vivobook being 100$+ I’ve been having difficulty picking which to buy since I will be using it for long-term all around and will carry it with me most of the time. I’m planning to do casual triple A gaming, Editing, recording, streaming, Data rendering, web browsing, and use it for school and also connect it to external monitor. Lenovo always has had that one lineup of gaming laptops, that are great to balance b/w work and gaming and even for engineering students, etc. The Win8 to Win10 jump era laptops had a few driver problems, but are solid otherwise. And the build quality has only improved since then. But they are also a bit more on the $$ side. (relatively)
