Ok so let's talk about the memory for a second since people seem to only be paying partial attention... I said that 24 Gigs can't divide evenly between 4 sticks. I shouldn't have assumed that everyone understands current memory, Yes. When X58 triple channel memory was a thing, 6GB sticks did exist and you could have 4 sticks of Ram be 24GB worth of system memory. HOWEVER this isn't X58 is it? It's X99 and used DDR4 not DDR3 like X58. There aren't ANY 6GB sticks of DDR4... so what I said about it can't possibly be 24GB worth of Ram in that build with 4 even sticks is absolutely true. Thirdly, I GAVE NIC THE RAM! So i ALREADY knew he didn't have mis matched Ram capacities.... which is why I said EVENLY. So no, this isn't a GOTCHA moment for you guys. Not this time anyway.
@metallurgico
@metallurgico 3 жыл бұрын
6GB sticks never existed... to get 24 you used 6x 4GB or if you wanted to be crazy 3x 8GB. (4GB of Corsair Dominator costed well over 100$ back in the day) BTW people are saying that you can get 24GB using 2x 4GB sticks and 2x 8GB sticks.

@@gucky4717 My old CoolerMaster Half X was the best case I've had it was easy to build in had amazing airflow and a fan of the side panel to keep the GPU nice and cool. The fan on the side panel would come in really useful nowadays if you had you GPU in a vertical mount. I miss that case should have never sold it. My trustly old i5 3570K 8GB DDR3 1600mhz an Asus ROG Formula V Motherboard and a plethora of GPU'S had been put to work in that rig amongst them was two GTX 680'S and the first GTX Titan good times. That was without a doubt the best MB I've had aswell my next mb will be a full on ROG board aswell no doubt it looked absolutely stunning. It's a shame nowadays that building a good rig for a decent price is pretty much impossible. The GPU in my new rig cost four times the price of my old GTX 680 Direct CU ii. I hope one day PC'S become affordable for the majority of gamers as they really are missing out not only on gaming but all the fun that comes with it building been one of the most enjoyable as when it all comes together and you get all those FPS it's great.

Unlikely, remember that with Windows 10 every major version upgrade was in fact a fresh OS install that kept your user data in place. That alone should have prevented the worst cases of performance attrition seen in previous versions towards the end of their support life cycle.
@thisismelsemail1217
@thisismelsemail1217 3 жыл бұрын
@@proesterchen That's not entirely true. Whenever there is an update, no matter the size, the old files are kept in case there is some issue with the update and you can revert to the previous one. The way Microsoft does their updates is really messy actually now that I think about it lol
@proesterchen
@proesterchen 3 жыл бұрын
@@thisismelsemail1217 Yes, the old Windows install is moved aside and kept around for a bit to allow for recovery and roll-back, but my point was that every major Windows update basically put a fresh and known-good Windows on your disk from the install image and then applied your user data to this fresh image, while in the olden days updates and Service Packs would just replace files in your existing Windows install. Yes, if you change Windows default behaviour in a way that isn't accounted for in this new upgrade process, those changes will need to be redone. But you no longer get the somewhat precarious generations upon generations of updates that older versions of Windows would turn into with time, and many of the problems caused by these tweaks with future updates simply don't exist anymore.

I only recently (like last year) upgraded my Switch 810... And yes the rubber grommets on those cases do kind dry rot or something every time you touch them you get grey marks on your hand. Another thing I learned from experience that can fix a ram slot that's not working when everything else seems to be working fine is reseating the CPU (I was using a 5960x and ASUS x99 Deluxe).

The 6900 was still a "k", the 6950 was the only "X" in that gen but had 2 more cores over the 5000 HEDT series. The 6900k was decent though - but unbelievably overpriced since it was the last gen before Ryzen came out.

@@EvilTurkeySlices Just remember the R7 1800x managed to match it on release. A 3700x like mine can even beat the 6900k, which was $1k before Ryzen!

This is actually one of the reasons why I love your channel so much Jay, you guys are totally real with us, and your funny as hell. Plus, the lower quality audio just makes me feel like I get to hang out with you guys while we do cool and fun stuff. Glad you figured out the RAM situation, I was like WTF? 32GB exactly how it should be.

24G DDR4 = 2x8G + 2X4G Not Impossible. Not Optimal.
@oblivionshadow9453
@oblivionshadow9453 3 жыл бұрын
Why is this not optimal. As long as each channel is capacity matched and all four sticks have the same latencies, there should be no degradation in performance (assuming dual channel).
@tonyzhu403
@tonyzhu403 3 жыл бұрын
@@oblivionshadow9453 Well, first of all this is a quad channel platform. Other than that, different memory chips have different properties. Running stock shouldn't be difficult, but you would likely encounter issues or degrade the performance if overclocking or even running XMP. And most 4Gbit memory chips are quite old and quite slow.

A few years back I was running a 5930K on an Asus X99 Prime board. Something gave out in the beginning of 2020, so instead of bothering to troubleshoot it, I instead just upgraded to a 3950x on a Crosshair VIII Hero board. Now that was an upgrade. Looks like the upgrade here worked well, as a 46% (roughly) improvement is no joke. I also like the Fractal case, and I have one here waiting for a new future build. Fun video, love the humor!

The pump in that pump block is a DC-LT which is on par with a current gen asetek pump. I have tested it myself with a DC-LT 2600 and eisbaer. it is essentially an eisbaer lt solo with a reservoir attached. I'd still recommend a asetek design over one of these if you don't need the expandability. Which won't matter because the pump is anemic at best and can't handle a GPU block let alone another rad. Refilling also doesn't matter because the pump will die before the fluid needs to be changed they are that bad.
