What surprises me, is how long those pompano are staying hooked before you can get to the rod.

Have you ever thought of using a bait caster cannon instead of walking out into the surf to get over the sand bars?
@Laterdays2Ай бұрын
That looked like a ton of fun.

After watching Brant and others do catch and cooks with hardhead catfish, I fried one up. They actually taste good, and have a better texture than the sail cats. They basically eat the same things other fish eat, so why would anyone expect that they are trash fish? Sure, they steal your bait, and you don’t want to get stuck by their fins. I just fillet them like any other fish.
@millsm4326 күн бұрын
I've tried the hard heads and don't like them. I'd rather eat the sailcats
@adamunderwood467126 күн бұрын
Heck I grew up eating hard head cats a sail cat is best fish to eat in gulf

Keep it simple , light line with 30lb mono or equivalent leader. The west beach pass is nice at night on the outgoing tides for big specks / flounder/ croaker/ drum. Small crappy jigs will catch big fish there.

I have been fishing for about two years in Florida and I have been fishing for almost all species but the pompano doesn't stick to my hook, it easily sticks to your hooks 😄🤷♂️🤦♂️

I can't understand why you don't use sputnik weights, you must like having your pyramids roll along the bottom with the wind and current .I used to beach fish on the FL East coast with them, 2 oz in 5 ft churning surf and they would rock down and stay in place till pulled. 2 oz.sputnik would be my universal ground tackle in your area. I fish the Pacific NW now and 2.oz, here is still all that I need. Try them for once and see. I'll be waiting to see if you'll try them. Cheers y Pura Vida
