She was sick during this performance, but still went out and sang her heart out. One thing to know about Taylor is that her voice has aged like fine wine. She was never going to have the vocal ability of Ariana or Adele, but her lyricism and storytelling is miles above the rest. I love all of her old stuff with my whole heart, but 10 years after this performance her vocal control and technicality is so much improved. It's been a joy hearing her voice change and get even stronger over the years. If you want a more recent live performance of this song, she performed the 10 Minute Version on SNL and it was fantastic.

@@michelle6337 Let's not forget, the American songwriter who got the Nobel Prize for literature was Bob Dylan.... not exactly a vocal virtuoso. Range and power are only two of a multitude of compelling vocal attributes. Taylor Swift has those to a lesser degree, but her lyrics, her expressive and stylistic skills and her innovative arrangements are truly second to none. She is an American treasure.

Perfectly said above. The original version was edited to perfection to express heartbreak and wistful sadness. The 10 minute version brought the anger, which is a cool soundtrack to Taylor’s film, and perhaps a story she needed to tell. It’s an impressive feat. But as a song, the original remains the top track in her catalog. It’s so sad to me that the fans want to erase it.

Taylor has never gotten enough credit - until now. She was a teen when she came out. Everything about her was still maturing - songwriting, vocals, performance, looks, love life - and she had to do that in front of the world! She has grown into such a beautiful human. I feel like a proud mama 😂. I wish one of my kids were Swifties or I had a group of girlfriends who were Swifties. I would have love to have seen the Eras Tour. I haven’t even seen the movie 😢. If I win the lottery, I’ll find a way to get tickets to one of the shows she added in FL in the Spring! Sigh.

Good point. She is much more polished than when she first started. I can tell she worked HARD on her vocals, and her presence and presentation are outstanding. The vibrato on the end of her phrases is so warm, so honest. This is a great example of a singer half talking, half singing, which for Taylor is really effective at conveying the emotion. It isnt just about her vocal ability- its about what she is saying and HOW she emotes.

Taylor is so successful and very well deserved because not only is she a singer, great performer. She plays both guitar and the piano. Doesn’t lip Sync, but her writing is so exceptional like a master poet. And people say she writes about her exes, but she doesn’t. She writes about her experiences and her exes happens to be a part of her experiences. And it just shows that we all have similar experiences at some point in our lives which is why it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from or how you look like. Taylor can make you a fan with her writing. We are more alike than we are different. And Taylor unintentionally proves that. I love her for who she represents. A lot of hard work and a lot of love.

Kansas City girl here looking at T Swift reaction videos to take your journey. Wondering what the Kelce album will be like. Wouldn’t it be nice if they find each other? Hearing a song like this makes me think Taylor could settle down and make a home.

I TRULY HOPE THEY SUCCEED IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP

Liz Rose, her co-writer on this song, is a superb songwriter in her own right. Check out the list of songs she's written or co-written in her Wikipedia entry! (They include a couple of number one hits for other country artists, along with credits on 17 of Taylor's songs.)

When you look at the background, you can see the empty seats --- as powerful and emotional as this performance is, it was just the _rehearsal_ .

You should watch the lyric video for This Love!! It’s exactly what you’re talking about about waiting for things that are meant for you to come back

She’s so emotional bc she had her fans vote on which song they wanted her to perform and they voted on this one. The break up wasn’t that long ago and she was still very emotional about it.

Taylor’s music hits like nothing else. Dancing around in the refrigerator light - great memories…. Mamas telling stories of you on the ball team-lov that imagery… she can draw a picture with her words like the great masters… i remember all these lines… alll too…all too..alllll too well.

You should listen to This Love. In what you mentioned about your relationship and having to let it go and come back to you, the song definitely mirrors that

This performance always gives me goosebumps too! There are two other songs that hit me that way. If you haven't listened to them you should find the videos. The first is Kelly Clarkson singing Piece by Piece live on the Voice. The second is Jennifer Nettles singing Stay. They'll tear you up!

Jennifer Nettles has an amazing voice. I like her version of Babe better than Taylor's!

Taylor Swift does not have a huge powerful voice, but she is extremely talented. talents are not always measured in huge vocal abilities, but musical, songwriting, and actual performing ability. so many of the female and even male pop and r and b singers dont perform live very much. they cant. most of their performances are prerecorded and they lip synch. some of the country stars are doing it also. several years ago on a C M A awards show, Kieth Urban did a huge number but he was lip synching. he got so enthralled in his guitar playing he forgot to sing and you heard him singing when his mouth wasnt moving. just sad to me. he caught it pretty quick but still not acceptable when you are doing 1 song. also i have noticed a lot of performances Dolly has been doing lately are pre recorded. oh well.

Watching you slowly become a swiftie, and trying to fight it, has been one of my favorite things to ever watch lol

Liz Rose is a friend and songwriter Taylor consulted for advice during before her Fearless era. When Taylor wanted advice on editing All too Well, she turned again to her trusted friend, Liz. And to keep the longer version under wraps.

This was always my favorite song of hers and now it's the 10-minute version. It's just such an incredible masterpiece of songwriting and visualization.

Your anecdote about your brief break up reminds me of the Taylor Swift song 'This Love'. I think you might appreciate it!

The funny thing is Kanye's outburst about Taylor winning best Female artist video is that his dumbass was mad about Taylor getting second place for women in the awards show - Beyonce was already a shoo-in for the biggest award, Video of the Year 😭 like best female video was a consolation prize for Taylor's video that also had a cultural impact, just nowhere near what Single Ladies had
