One of my absolute favorite groups of all time and one of the greatest PURE Singers of the last 50+ years!!! Sadly I wanted to take my mom who's a huge fan of Hall & Oats, to see them live here in Miami about a decade ago but tickets were an insane $50 each for nosebleed seats!

Been a fan of Hall and Oates since "You Make My Dreams". Instantly hooked by that bouncy groove and Daryl's punchy voice, and been bopping along ever since. PS: RIP Quincy Jones, probably the finest producer ever. He brought out the best in everyone he worked with, and he worked with so many giants!

Fantastic interview, Adam! I know we both think "Some Things are Better Left Unsaid" is their best song, so thanks for asking Daryl about it. For my money, the performance of that song live at the Liberty Concert on July 4th, 1985, was the pinnacle of their whole career. I wonder if you were able to ask him about playing Live Aid just 9 days later. Thanks again and have a great day! - Dave

I’ve always loved Hall & Oates, and later when I saw Daryl‘s House and how good he was at participating in other people’s songs, it solidified that esteem. He’s really an amazing musician-super talented, and I’m not surprised he’s still going strong! I also like that he collaborated with Dave Stewart for his latest album.

The 2002 Hall & Oates song "Do It For Love" should have hit the Top 40 (peaked at # 114) BUT it went to # 1 ( 2 weeks in September 2002) on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart which was their last # 1 song.

🏆⭐😎🙏 Thank you for sharing this. I always love to hear a musician and singer discuss what a song meant to them and how it was inspired. Not being critical, but wondered why Sarah Smile n wasn't discussed? From the first time I heard that song, and still today, that song is difficult to listen to. Just EVERYTHING... It's very moving and sad and mournful and I can't do anything to change that. 🥺😢💔

growing up with Hall and Oates( late 70s to present).... all over the radio and started to hate them... then in 1980s picked up the private eyes cassette and now today... I cannot tell you how much it has become my go to songs/sound artist!!!

Hall and Oates were great due to the strength of their songs. They were HUGE long before MTV. So many "artists" today are only known because of the image created by their visuals. They could never survive just based on their music. Daryl didn't say it quite so bluntly, but I believe he implied the same opinion.

Quintessential 80's sound to a lot of these songs, but his performances on his series Daryl's Place in the 2010'a really made me a fan and shows how well these songs stand up to the test of time.

Hall and Oates have done nothing but rise on my personal favorite artist list. From Sara Smile to all of their 80's hits, they are just gold and so timeless in a very odd way because they are also so of their time....... I love the joy of Your Kiss Is On My List and the catchiness of Private Eyes, those rank very high for me.
