In my family, we are taught to never beg for anything. Whether it was someone's toy when I was a kid, or money. It has definitely been ingrained. I will do that for my kids in the future. Begging and receiving what you get definitely causes entitlement in the future. I can see it in my cousins. Their parents asked the other kid to share their toy with my crying cousin. Now they want life to go how they want. When it comes to family in the motherland, my family receives money because the country is destitute, but my family here has given them so much money that they do live in good means. Better than my cousins who are 20-24 years old who are slaving away at work to basically let them continue their life style. My poor cousins work so hard to supply life for multiple families. I believe in helping family out, but there comes a time where it is so abusive and hurtful. Ranty, but needed to get it out.

That's what it always has been and only very recently have people started doing it for reasons like love. Not to discredit love and all that but love wanes, marriage is a contract to bind two people in order to create a stable, solid household for them to raise children. Don't get me wrong, I wish all the best for you and hope you find what you're looking for one day but it's not a concidence that divorce rates are near enough 80% in todays age. Right around the time where this modern idea of "marriage for love" has come along. And again, I've nothing against loving the person you marry, however marriage is not intended to be based on love, its intended to be based on practicality and respect. We obviously don't entirely disagree, but the way I see it, and the way it has worked throughout history was marriage comes first, love comes second, first you build a solid foundation, a stable household, then you worry about love, which is built, not found.

Here's the truth, there are rules of dating in general, sure. But when the other person really likes you and is serious and a decent person, the rules don't matter. I bought my wife flowers on the second date, she loved them, kept them until they died. By that time we were basically living together. I can't even remember if I paid for the first date. Who cares. I've been the breadwinner when she couldn't work and I worked from home when we had our child because it was difficult for her. Now she makes more money than me. (She has a masters.) But we are a team. Alot of these dating gurus say some nonsense. If I bought my wife a flight to Mexico on the first date I'm not sure things would have worked out.
